Any one here think that Mozart's horn concertos are the best concerto, written for the best instrument?

Does Wilfred play the horn? That is all Wilfred does, that is Wilfred's life. What better way to spend one's life than to play the horn.

Actually, I have played the violin for longer than I have played the horn. It is only recently that I have turned away from the dark side and found the light, have learned that the horn is the only true worty instrument. Therefore, I know what I am saying when I say that the horn is better.

Et tu brute?
How could you turn your back on such a fine piece of beuty?
You sir are like Anikan Skywalker, you sold your sole for brass...

Et me Brute....the real question is why did I waste such a large part of my life sawing away on such a piece of trash, when I could have been finding a deeper joy in the real musical instrument, the horn. Yes, I sold my sole for brass, and I have never regretted it.

Such harsh words... You must hate the violin because you are jelouse. It is easy to see why.

I dont know what kind of education you have had, but I dont see how anyone could be so blind as to believe that the violin was better that the horn. I dont see how I could be jealous of a piece of wood when I have my shiny, beautiful, horn, with its rich velvet tone and powereful music.

A violin is shiny too, and it doesn't need a spit valve, I have tried brass before, Violin is more hygenic, and melodic.

To say a violin is shiny compared to the horn is like saying a moldy log in the fire place is silver. The horn doesnt have a spit vaulve and there is no spit, it is condensation. The violin has hair from dead animals on it. You call that hygenic? As for being more melodic, I don't know what kind of melodies you listen too, obviously not very good ones.

Vivaldi sir, And it is bleached and resinned dead animal hair, much cleaner.

Vivaldi is nice, but he would be much better if he wrote for the horn, then perhaps he could be considered someone who write real music. And even though it is cleaned, it is still animal hair, and it sometimes gets bugs in it. (personal experience)

I never expierianced that in all my years of playing, now I see why you have no respect for it. By the way vivald is the violin-god.
Wilfred

The violin god is a mere servant in the house of the french horn gods mozart and strauss.

I play the French horn too, but I don't think I'm quite as experienced.
Mostly I play small band pieces, anything arranged by Michael Sweeney is suited to me.
Probably, my favourite composer is Henry Mancini, he writes some pretty good parts for horn, easy enough as well. Not much melody in the pieces I play, mostly counter-melody.

Perhaps, though one can't help but notice all his music for the instrument, or music in general essentially sounds the same. I think he achieves more in his vocal works, but that is just me.
