ok, what's the worst movie you've ever actually had to sit through like 2/3 of? As in, you actually had to SIT THERE and WATCH IT, slowly DYING and wanting to knock yourself unconscious. Here's mine. They're VERY hard to top.

-legally blonde 2 [SO BAD IT'S NOT EVEN FUNNY. by far the worst movie I've seen this year, and even in the span of my life]. Blondes everywhere should feel ashamed a movie would have a blonde character that fatuous.

-a walk to remember [DON'T ASK how I got roped into watching that little CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY.]

oh wait, I have more. Who could forget the pain inflicted by
-The Hot Chick *shudder*
-Mr Deeds *double shudder* like I said, don't even ask.

The worst film I 've seen this year was probably '8th mile' starring Eminem (although a few all time worst films come to mind...) it was such a slow torturing death ...SO boring I wanted to slit my wrists and kick my friend who made me watch this!

I was repulsed by the matrix:revolutions. I had to see it to know what happened, but the second movie was loaded with philosophy, so they just use the same special effects to get out of it. UGH!

The two worst movies I can think of were the brainchildren of three of my favorite comedy writers.

'Sour Grapes' -- Directed by Larry David (writer for 'Seinfeld').

'Run, Ronnie, Run' -- Directed by, and starring, Bob Odenkirk and David Cross (writers for, and stars of, the HBO series, 'Mr. Show').

I wanted to rip my teeth out, twice.

Battlefield earth.

Lines like "As your friend I would never do something like that....But I´m not your friend...MUHEHEHE (evil laughter by Travolta)"

I rather have needles put under my toenails than watch it again.

I make it a habit not to walk away from any movie (in cinemas at least ;)). Luckily, it's a rare ocurrance that I dislike a movie I went to see. The worst movie ever is a title shared by two:
The Road Killers and The Players vs. Angeles Caidos. I blame my father for the first one, myself for the last one. Damn cinema critics.

The worst movies I've ever seen (and I've seen some stinkers, mind you!) would have to be a tie between The Cube, and Trick or Treat. My brother bought trick or treat for me for 2.50 at Walmart, cause it says, 'Starring Gene Simmons and Ozzy Osbourne' (I have a sorta hero worship thing for Ozzy) they each had like a two minute cameo, but that was the only way that they could market this movie, it was so bad.

Army of Darkness Directors Cut. I really liked the theatrical release (when I originally saw it almost 10 years ago), but I watched the Directors Cut, and I don't like that ending nearly as much.

crisaor
12-16-2003, 05:05 PM
What happens in that ending?

Azoic
12-16-2003, 10:37 PM
Well, in the theatrical release Ash goes back to his own time, his girlfriend is alive again, and he has to fight some demons, etc. In the director's cut he sleeps in a cave (don't remember if that happens in the theatrical) under the power of a magical potion, so he doesn't age. You see the watch Ash get covered in spider-webs as his beard grows (rip van winkle style), and there are flashes to the world aging to modern times. Finally Ash gets up, cleans himself off, and breaks out of the cave. He looks out on the world and sees Big Ben sinking into the earth, and lots of urban decay. (perhaps a reference to the original Planet of the Apes, but those were before my time) Ash screams, "I slept too long. I slept toooo loooong!"

The End

Comedies like Stuck on You are really rubbish. Anything with can't-remember-his-name in is rubbish.

The Girl With The Pearl Earring. It wasn't about anything. It didn't have a plot. You might as well have stared at the picture for 2 hours.

The most recent film that I just couldn't sit through was Across the Universe. I mean, usually I will sit all the way through a movie no matter how bad it is, but I just couldn't take that one. So many people like it though. Matter of taste. But it really is NOTHING compared to the countless sci-fi/horror b-movie films I've seen. But, you see, I actually enjoy those. So bad they're good. I wanna see Acne and The Astro-Zombies.

Oh, you guys are showing your [lack of] age. The worst movie ever is clearly a thing called A Star is Born, the intended vehicle to launch Barbra Streisand's movie career to the extent that she even bared her (shock, horror!) breasts in the role.

Galactic-sized fail.

At three hours long, it was already known as "A Star is Yawn" by halfway through the movie. Made all the worse by the distributors insisting that no intervals be allowed in any screening, it's so bad it's almost a parody of itself.

Still sends a shudder down my spine. Horrible.

Dude, Where's my Car? or any of the Matrix movies are masterpieces of cinema in comparison.

Depends on the target audience. My 9-year old daughter loves it.

It's the Grease story done in 2008 clothes, and I couldn't tell you in this forum how much I loathe Grease, but I thought HSM wasn't too bad. (Haven't seen enough of HSM II to comment, but sequels usually fail)

The hero's a sports star, but not even slightly brawny. In a lot of films, he'd be "the dork".

The girl is good. Talented, non-white, vivacious, and brainy - really brainy.

Nice, politically-correct mixture of ethnicities.

Huge commercial success. While commercial success makes no statement about high quality, really bad films are those which bomb and bomb loudly - A Star is Yawn, Water World, Heaven's Gate, et al, rather than those which spawn sequels, hit CDs, stage shows, ice dancing tours....

No worse than any other Disney vehicle and a lot better than some - The Mighty Ducks, anyone?

The target audience part I agree with you about, but as for Greese done over, I definately don't see that. I guess maybe that could comparison could work, but both are targeted to different audiences. So, maybe...

Haha. As for the Might Ducks comment, that is pretty terrible. They went from okay to worse with those.

My latest edition to this list is The Golden Compass. Not because I disagree with the whole atheist background stuff to it or any other fluff that went with the movie/book, but I just didn't like the movie. I read some of the book, well, got started, but it was better. I think the only part of that movie that I liked was the polar bear fight. Other than that, the only enjoyment I got out of sitting in that movie theatre watching as my $3.75 went to the trash bin was the comments that my friends and I made through out the movie.

Of course, an exception is Recess: School's Out; I quite liked Recess as a child... Ahem.

Oh man, The Royal Tenebaums is one of my favorite movies. I liked Hot Fuzz too, though not as much as Shaun of the Dead. I agree that Will Ferrell was good in Wedding Crashers (HEY, MA! THE MEATLOAF!!!), but I wasn't too impressed by the movie overall.

All those frat pack (Farrel, Stiller, Wilson, Wilson, Vaughn, and Jack Black) movies seem to be a little bit mediocre. Lets be honest, that whole vein of comedy is on its way out of fashion as it is (in my opinion). All those moderately funny movies are doomed to fail, as they cease being funny as soon as people's minds change. They all always suffer from a moderate Emperor's New Clothes syndrome, and then disappear entirely.

I have said it again somewhere in a similar thread. The most rotten movie i have ever seen (although i admit it was so awful i laughed till i cried)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085672/

from the review:

I defy anyone to keep a straight face when Minos points to a crappy prop robot-monster and says in his booming Shakespearean tones, "He is programmed...to destroy Hercules?"

It's true..it has a huge robot-centaur that fires lazer from its eyes

LIES! I love the frat pack, Jack Black is awesome and Wilson rocks. They're funny and they'll always be! huh!

I usually watch the entire movie so that I don`t misjudge.
The worst movie I`ve ever seen is When Will I Be Loved by James Toback.

My problem with The Royal Tenebaums is pretty similar to the problem I have with Napoleon Dynamite - people keep telling me it is funny but the jokes dont really hit with me at all, at least not to the extent everyone goes on about.

With Hot FUzz it might just be that I cant stand the main actor - he annoys me for some unkown reason.

Not sure about that. For example Caddyshack is still damn hilarious, the films by those you mention are this generation's version of them.

Worst movie ever: Galaxy Quest. I had to sit through it with my brother. He told me it was the "funniest movie I would ever see." A lie. A waste of time. Worst.

I still don't get Napoleon Dynamite. I thought it was awful and boring!
