Looking for examples of cars in literature. Specifically interested in Rileys, Daimlers, Fords and Toyotas. Any help appreciated.

I know Jack Dodds had a blue Mercedes, if that's any help.

Yes, Gatsby is what I immediately thought of... thats a bit classic though, I don't know if I recall the make, certainly similar to a Rolls Royce though.

Whither goest thou, America, in thy shiny car in the night?

there are more from Jack Kerouac to be sure. A quick google search didn't come up with much, but I seem to recall a description of a bumper shining in the sun that went on for at least a couple of paragraphs. ;)

How's about the red convertible in Louise Erdrich's short story of the same name?

you can find examples of cars in the Great Gatsby, different colors and modles you'll find which throw a hint on the characters that own them.

Well, the first one I thought of was "Christine" by Stephen King although I've never read the novel, and don't remember the make.

Ithink that these specific cars relate to the current Suday Times Literary Quiz. There are 51 questions. The car questions are:

1 Whose green Riley overturns into a stream?

2 Who is jailed for throwing tropical fruit at a Daimler?

3 In which book does a Toyota driven by a politician fatally career off a bridge?

4 Who travels south in a blue Mercedes after his death?

5 Who motors down to Cornwall in his employer’s Ford?

I,m a bit stuck on these as well, apart from 5. Tautau
