hello everyone,
i have a question. years ago (25+) i remember taking a literature class in college. i do not remember if it was american or english. i remember reading a story about "truth" and i am wondering if anyone knows the title or author? I am desperate to find it. It went something like this....
an itinerent preacher stumbles upon a lighted home in the middle of a snow blizzard. the family invites him to dinner. after dinner the women clean up the table and prepare coffee while the men go upstairs into the attic to go "hunting". the preacher is befuddled but goes into the attic with the men.
in the attic the men begin wildly shooting at invisable ducks. after a time they return to the kitchen for coffee. the preacher wants to "enlighten" the family that there are no ducks in attic, but after doing so, the family goes insane.
idea: they were happy and fine living their lie. we should not always tell people the truth.
CAN ANYONE OUT THERE HELP ME?
Thank you.
