You are too funny, Prince.
Anyone with really curly hair wishes it would run far, far away.

Thank you. I do not guess, I make logical deductions. When I am wrong, I am usually very wrong, as I have unfortunately proven before. Something in the clues I read that turned me down the wrong path. You might remember Poe's The Gold Bug. The Black Man drops the bug from the wrong eye of the skull. At the tree, it was a difference of inches. But it was a mark for a line. The further you went, the worse off you were. That is how a clue does me.

well, I'm going to answer
you, of course are right it's the perm
but here in the Ozarks, us poor folk go to the beauty shop or more likely the beauty school for all three…that’s the connection!
It was 20 years ago and it was sooo expensive and it was bad. I'll never do it again.

Pendragon

The Ozarks, eh. Ah, it has been more than a dozen years since I was in Arkansas and Missouri preaching. I would hardly be welcome in those churches now, a lot of things went wrong here, and I am bound by a promise I dare not break. So I am a hermit, but His grace is sufficient, and I do not answer to man.

Wish to try another 2 truths and a lie against the enignmatic Pendragon?

OK.

1.) I am my mother's 4th child but have no idea where I rank among my dad's kids.

2.) My favorite soda is Mountain Dew, which my hometown lays claim to its first manufacture.

3.) Even though I am basically self-trained in martial arts, on three occasions I have defeated opponents with the rank of green belt.

I remind you once more that nothing is ever what it seems.

Good luck.

2. I have a pet Llama.

3. I highly resemble the actor Sam Elliott, even down to the voice.

http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l108/AbsalomKane/Black_panther.gifWell, we had two guesses, but Granny hit the bullseyes first shot!

2.) My favorite soda is Mountain Dew, which my hometown lays claim to its first manufacture. This is the lie. The second half of the statement is true enough, Marion, VA is in a battle with another town over who first bottled Moutain Dew. My favorite, however, is Dr. Pepper.

1.) I am my mother's 4th child but have no idea where I rank among my dad's kids.
Pensy picked this one, but unfortunally, it is true. I am not even certain how many kids my dad actually fathered. We know one half-sister, have solid proof of at least one child in Vietnam, strong suspicion on a half-brother, and so on.

3.) Even though I am basically self-trained in martial arts, on three occasions I have defeated opponents with the rank of green belt.

Amazed that this is true? They were more amazed. If my fighting style were named it would be called "The Way of the Unexpected." A local sensi grumbled that I threw a kick from the wrong position. I pointed out that it was on target and took down the opponent. He insisted everything had to be done a certain way. That's when I noticed that many martial arts people react certain ways to certain attacks. So if you can make them think you are going there and go elsewhere, it works at times.

My take on you mon ami. I can see you as the adrenaline junkie, what I question is the word "former". Unless you are badly disabled, I know from my own experience, the thirll doesn't go away. I will say 1.

With that in mind, people are thinking "And he has a pet Llama?" You have all seen the way I am with my blades. I have hamsters that get hand feed every night. Love animals.

So you sound like Sam Elliot? Remember when he was in The Sacketts with Tom Shelleck? I reasonablly sound like Tom.

1. Well Pen. you do have the right to question...was in an accident a few years ago the I walked/crawled away from, this caused me to change the way I think about life and made me prioritize the important things to me...so I still have the "need", but have realized that I should be a little more careful...so this one is true...

2. Do have lots of pets now, even a few exotics...but sorry no Llama...this is the lie..:p

3. I don't really see it, but lots of people have commented on the look..
I am built like Sam Elliott, have the grey hair and mustache...but the kicker is the voice...have real deep voice...always thought it was nice being compared.:D
But once had a burst bubble...overheard 2 twenty-somethings talking about me..Said wow he really looks like Sam Elliott...I smiled to myself...then the other said who...and the answer was.....you know, that "old dude" from the movie Roadhouse..... got more comments when I had my hair longer, keep it fairly short now.

1. True. Blech, these roaches were huge, about as big as my head and quite honestly freak me out. I've been told they are very common along with the other myriad of bugs in this area. I'm just not used to the abundance.

I recall the picture, Pensy. And I believe you've expressed intreset in teaching also, though my memory of late is not what it should be.

An enigma, for certain. I have no doubts on number 3, your cooking skills wouldn't surprise me, as I know Arkansas is famous for fishing. I have been there. Mountain Home might ring a bell with you. I get there via Highway 63 and 62 off I-55 up from West Mephsis. Pass a lot of good fishing and frogging water.

Now we come to 1 and 2.

I got to go with my gut feelings. The mountains where I live have black bears, legal to hunt. I have been a hunter for years. I have been close enough to touch a bear. I have no desire for bear meat. Bears smell strongly of wet dog. The meat is strong and stringy. Deer is much better. Even a Big Mac, while bad for you is better.

I don't know about Poppy's hunting skills, but I'm going with you haven't eaten bear meat.

That would be number 1. I choose number 1 as the falsehood.

Pen, I’ve been waiting to see if you would get this one. I think it was my best effort at a lie so far.

1. I've eaten bear- And it is strong and oily. That’s why it says I’ve eaten and not I eat.

2. I've never eaten a big mac- Papaya you were way off. Bluesky, I’m glad to hear that I’m not the only one who has never eaten a big mac. They look like vomit to me. But I know the song.

3. I make the best baked fish around- Here it is, the big fat lie. I can’t bake fish. In fact I once made baked fish that was so bad my cat wouldn’t eat it! I can fry, broil, and grill. A real shame since I love baked fish.

Pen, Mountain Home is just about 40 min. from here. They were our big high school rivals. Whenever I hear anyone say ‘what are we gonna do tonight?’ I always think ‘beat those Bombers’. That’s what got ingrained in high school.

Haven't been out there or had any contact with anyone in 12 years. But I could leave home right now and go all the way with no map. I never need one if I want to remember where I've been. When I was going out then once, another guy was driving and I fell asleep. I woke up, looked out the window and said "We missed a turn." "No way, I could have!" I had to wait on a road sign to tell him we were headed for Little Rock before he was convinced. Missed a right turn.

I could probably find you guys. Know the area pretty well, and up into Missouri as far as above Branson. Armadillos along the roads like possums out here. Both need to ask the chicken how to cross the road.

2 of these must be true. As I see it, whether one is right or wrong has no effect on anything else. But if two is wrong, I could see no real reason for you to be in Belfast, North Ireland three times only. Were you there to visit family or attend school, more than three would be necessary. But if three is false, the same thing applies, it makes no difference.

So, 1 is false, 2 discribes you, and three times you have attended protest ralleys in Belfast. I am either right, right with wrong explantion, or very wrong.

2.) I have three basic fears: total silence, total solitute, and total darkness. These are why my medication must be regulated at least twice a year, sometime more often, as I cannot function without the medication.

3.) I have shared space in poetry magazines with a President of the United States, a best-selling author, and a man who writers Sherlock Homes pastchies.

OK, reveal time. I note that no one doubted number three, which is good. The President was Jimmy Carter. The best-selling author wrote under a pen-name which I am not at liberty to reveal. That's why they usually write under pen names. The Sherlock Holmes pastiches have been collected in book form, from the magazine Murderous Intent, and are called The Adventures of the Second Mrs. Watson by Michael Mallory.

1.) is true. If I want to remember something I can to the smallest detail. I never used a church hymnal, because I knew the songs by heart. I knew hundreds of songs by heart. I could quote reams of poetry by heart. I knew every President in order by heart. I passed my classes by keeping notes in my head. Since I had to work after school and then walk two miles home regarless of weather, I couldn't take home books, I had no bookbag, I had to remember. Since my breakdown, you could drive a lorry through my memory gaps, and I miss words in songs I once knew perfectly.

2.) Here comes the lie for a couple of reasons. These three things are typical of most bi-polar people, and they have nothing to do with how medicine is regulated. I have defeated all three. My major fear is spiders. Cannot stand the creepy things! I'm working on it, go to the pet store and hold tarantulas as long as I can stand it. But it hasn't left. Gotcha!

You did indeed, and I didn't even give you credit Granny Sandy. http://www.cosgan.de/images/midi/sportlich/a040.gif Now you know why number 1 is definately true. Memory gaps. Congratulations, Divine (for your top grades, I mean.):thumbs_up I'd have gone for # 2, too, but papaya got in before me (not the first time, too. :D )

2. I hate my job. It eats me up, burns me out.
3. I love the Harry Potter books. But I haven't read the last one yet.

What do you think?
Let's try to read this one right:

#2) Well, frankly few people do not hate their job...
#1) Writting music parts requires a great deal of skill. One wonders why one with that skill would be stuck in a job she hates, when she could make money writing music for popular songs?
#3) Then again, if you love Harry Potter, why have you not read the last book?

I am a book collector myself, and time is a factor at times as to when the book is available in my area, or when I am too busy to read.

I say 1.) If I was that skilled in music, I would not be currently disabled, people are always asking for someone to write music for a song they have written. I know at least three people who make a good living that way. Send them a song on tape, they write and arrange the music.

barbara0207
09-01-2007, 04:30 PM
Uh-oh, everyone is wrong. I must be a very contradictory person ...:(

# 1 Yes I do write parts for my choir, but just easy ones. I couldn't do that on a very high level.

# 2 I love my job. But I only do part-time so that it doesn't eat me up and I have time for things like # 1.

# 3 Yes, it's sad and hard to believe but true. I had to read a lot of other stuff, so HP had to wait.

So # 2 was the lie. :D

Granny Sandy was correct in saying they could have all been true.

#2) Yeah, I'm disabled and on a budget, but I dug the Internet over until I found a decent rapier I could afford. A man who collects blades and likes Zorro has to have one!

#3) Barbara: No I really do not guess even on the dolls. Every post people make gives clues they do not intend to leave. Signon name can be a clue. Profile gives hints. Once someone stated that they hated red, for example. I dressed their doll in green, and they loved it. Green is red's opposite color. If someone has mentioned where they live, ancestry, or such, clues to eye and hair color come up. But sometimes I follow the wrong clue and I miss wildly.

1.) I did mess up my collarbone, but it hasn't affected my skill as an archer. I was fairly good until I had to sell my bow, and I haven't replaced it.

3.) I think Batman the best hero DC Comics ever had. It's easy to be a hero when you are the advantages like Superman, but Batman is an ordinary man who had to earn his way!Revelation time, eh?

Well.

1.) Asolutely true. I have every Doc Savage, every Shadow (in fact I write for a website devoted to The Shadow), most Spider's, many G-8's, Operator 5, etc. Someone had to have read my Case of the Cautious Casanova which is still somewhere on the short stories thread.

3.) Oh, yeah. The heroes who have to work to be one are my favorites, and from DC Comics, that would be Batman. With Marvel perhaps Daredevil or Captain America. Even Spiderman, because with all of his powers, he has to scrape for a living, not a millionare who never has to worry.

So MotherHubbard, Papayahed and Farnoosh got it right, but all is still not what it seems. I am a deadshot indeed without a scope with either my Marlin .22 or Winchester 1890 model 30-30. I can blow spots out of a playing card with my .22/.22 magnum sixgun pistol. The heroes I was trying to emulate were Wild Bill Hickock, Buffalo Bill Cody, and Annie Oakley. Except for King Solomon's Mines, I read Quartermain only after the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen movie, but I have most of the books now. On my Marlin .22 magnum rifle I have reluctantanly placed a scope, for 300+ yards. I would rather rely on my eyes.

But you ladies got the prize and one of you may go now!

The truth is so much stranger than fiction...

2 truths and one big lie.

1.) I once spent an evening chatting with gang members in West Memphis, Arkansas, all of whom were wearing full "blood" colors and probably armed. I had on a suit and tie, and we spent an hour peacefully talking.

2.) Despite my many collections of Ghost Stories, I am firmly convinced that ghosts are figiments of imagination only and do not exist in any form. Never saw one, never will.

3.) Despite the fact that red is a color that is bad for my eyes and even can set off tension, it is my favorite color. My truck would be red, but I buy used vehicles, and they didn't have a red one. My daughter's Escort (used to be our car) is red, has almost 200,000 miles and doing fine!

Good luck!

2 truths and one big lie.

Well, Granny Sandy, BlueSky, and Pixie all know me too well! http://www.cosgan.de/images/midi/sportlich/a040.gif

1.) I once spent an evening chatting with gang members in West Memphis, Arkansas, all of whom were wearing full "blood" colors and probably armed. I had on a suit and tie, and we spent an hour peacefully talking. Certainly true. On my way hope from a preaching trip. Stopped for gas and ended up chatting with a carload of black gang members. I wasn't threatening their turf nor disrespecting them, so we talked for a good while, they all whished me good luck on the long drive home and we parted ways. Treat people like you want to be treated and they will have more respect for you. Don't act like they are low-lifes, or sterotype them.

2.) Despite my many collections of Ghost Stories, I am firmly convinced that ghosts are figiments of imagination only and do not exist in any form. Never saw one, never will. Oh, yeah, False. I live within walking distance of one of the most famous haunted places in this area. The Old Stone Inn, just off I-81 at exit 50. Have I seen ghosts? I've seen things I can't explain. Ghosts or not, as Granny says, I'm Southern.

This is all true, the bit about red being bad for me, but it is my favorite color.

Hey Pen:
Just somehow knew that the Memphis one was true...
I used to live in an area that was considered the bad part of town...
Gang area....but our small little block was a safe zone....
the gang leader's grandmother lived next door to us...it was amazing how if you walked one block over there was a turf war, but as long as you were on our block it was as safe as could be....
and yes many interesting conversations took place during the time I lived there.

back on topic...

That leaves a coin flip. Anyone has a 50-50 shot. That's why you don't reveal until you are satisfied no one is going to guess correctly or unless someone gets it right. I went with the most logical, as always, since I don't guess, I make logical deductions. No way could I see anyone spending that kind of money on magazines. You don't; you are in the busines, something I didn't think of. If you hadn't explained, others might have suggested one of the other two. Try us again!

OK, Granny Sandy, since I make people think.

1.) I have read & written poetry since childhood, and can recite many poems by heart. However, I find reciting them in a British accent helps me remember them better and I am less apt to make mistakes.

2.) I can and have written some of my best poetry on the first draft and within six or seven minutes, and this includes fairly complicated form poems. When I am “in the grove” words simply flow.

3.) Despite a large vocabulary and even flashes of other languages that appear in my poems, I graduated High School with a low B, due to a touch of dyslexia and some problems with Math, and currently have only an AAS degree which is in General Studies. I was one class short of being able to go for my Bachelor’s and too lazy and sick to go back, realizing it would change nothing about my situation.

Go for it!

Well, since Pixie is one of my favorite people, and she got it in one, I will give her one of the smiles she likes: http://www.cosgan.de/images/kao/sportlich/c025.gif and explain about these things:

1.) I have read & written poetry since childhood, and can recite many poems by heart. However, I find reciting them in a British accent helps me remember them better and I am less apt to make mistakes.

Un-huh: See, the extra effort of keeping the British accent going helps keep me focused on the poem I am reciting. I used to do Dr. Seuss stories by heart, and breaking down each character into a different accent helped me keep that straight.

2.) I can and have written some of my best poetry on the first draft and within six or seven minutes, and this includes fairly complicated form poems. When I am “in the grove” words simply flow.

Yes. I write the vast majority of my poems on a first draft. I have written poems that people here have given rave reviews in stunningly little time. But I get writers block and can't pull nothing together for weeks.

The problem with this is that most of it is true. That could be what confused many of you. I did only graduate High School with a low B. Math is not my strong suit. I have dyslexia to a certain extent. I was one class short of being able to go for my Bachelor's (I needed Speech, but I was sick and it was my Internship year. So I decided against the extra class, planning on coming back in the summer after Graduation [Summa Cum Laude] and taking it, by then I realized it would change nothing. But my degree is IST, Information Systems Tech. Computer Geek. Not General Studies. Gotcha. Except for Pixie, of course...

My son and I visited a pet store today, this much is very true. While there I:

1.) Held a baby hedgehog with no gloves for over 45 minutes while she fussed, but she wouldn't uncurl. Fussed worse than a Geinea Pig!

2.) I surprised the lady by holding their largest snake, an 18 foot boa constrictor. She said it bit the last customer to hold it, but maybe I have a way with snakes.

3.) I got very careless with a grey parrot and have a bite on my finger to show for it. It was odd, because the one she said bites, liked me, and this one was tame enough to give her kisses!

#3) I am usually good with birds but this one caught me off-gaurd and pinched the finger agaist the bar and took off a chunk of finger!

So, although I am a very good snake wrangler, I did not ask for the snake that day! I didn't even go into the reptile room. so #2 is false. Which would get most of my friends, who know I am not afraid of snakes or have seen pictures of me with wild ones.

Well, you made a mistake in the third and second sentence - still in German, can mean still in english but in that case it is an adjective (a still place) not an adverb. Also, I don't quite understand the sentence - don't see the verb, could be my mistake though.
And it should be Je parle, but as you said you were rusty. So I think you can speak a bit of French.

Don't speak Spanish but the sentence seems very simple, whereas the German sentence seems complicated but I think that perhaps you used Babelfish or something. I think it is a trick.

I think that you can't speak German.

I suppose the first one is right. You say you don't speak Spanish and as Taliesin said, the sentence is very simple so you don't have to know the language to write it.

The third one must be true, too, but that is only because you made too much mistakes in the second sentence.A person that speaks French, however rusty their French might be,knows basic verbs correctly.According to me,a francophone would never say "je parler"...So,is the second one a lie?

Oh, yes, my friends, you caught the spy, unt you haf vays to make me talk, eh? Dat is gut! No, I cannot speak German, and the sentence is proof as it was supposed to say "The German I learned as a youth is still good." I did have a German friend as a boy and learned enough to get by, but forgot all of it, except a few words. My High School French is rusty and I read the language much better than I talk or speak it, I sound like a very bad actor trying out for the Marx Brothers. My children speak Spanish, my daughter fluently, but I have problems, and with a larger Hispanic population in the area, I could use the language. Au revoir , mon amis!

2. You probably know I'm a teacher and - in my free time - a comedian. I think I'll quit teaching and become a full-time comedian. The government has been heaping extra work on us during the last few years while reducing our pay. It's not fun any more.

3. My two orange tomcats are brothers. We don't know how old they really are because we got them from an organisation that catches and looks after stray cats.

Hm, too easy?

I think that the third one can easily be a truth (though of course I might be wrong here) because about everybody can imitate. Good imitation or bad imitation are two other things. No,I don't mind,I love a bit of high quality debate.

You see,the thing is,to be able to imitate you must be a very good interpreteur which is a talent of relatively few people in the world.Imitating as a concept means to act well and to impersonate well. It's like singing. You might like to sing, but you don't sing,it is not called singing what you do (it is merely noise-making) unless it is likable by others.

Well, as far as I know, imitation is taken as acting in a way (in the desired way) that people get the drift of whom you are trying to play. Now I think that it is not very unlikely logically-speaking (while you apparently think that it is). Can be because the people I know, most of them, are able to imitate the desired person in a way you get the drift who that person is (but mind me I am in highschool and around here it's one of the most favourite hobbies of people to imitate teachers/singers/fashion-models/what-not :p). On the other hand, I have hardly met a person who could read three books at a time (I might be taking it too literally, well...) or live without food for at least two days. Formality can be an exception though. :)

Oh well I guess logic differs from person to person, as I said before, it's pretty fun/yet not very much fun (again depends upon how you take it) to follow the track we find logic leading us on to. :)

Might I just barge in and note that you two may be talking about different things? Some people really can "imitate" other people and not only just so you "get the drift" but that you could actually believe somebody else is talking to you.

As for the "facts", I'd go with Remarkable and #3.

Well, logically, either one or both of the first two statements has to be right.
