As far as the Quatermains I'm aways pushing The Ivory Child as my favorite because I believe all of Haggard's themes are present: a short time in England, expedition to a lost civilization, giant animal, death and destruction, tribe worshiping the 'white' woman as a goddess--usually a type of Egyptian worship, unexplained magic usually attempeted by Quatermain to rationalize things. This book also lays groundwork for Ancient Allan and Allan and the Ice Gods.
