Has anybody else taught Spies as their choice of modern novel at AS level this year? I am a student myself, but I'm curious to know as the majority of my year failed the paper it would seem. I'm supposed to be getting As in literature...I got a U on this particular paper.

Looking at some of the teaching sites many teachers seem to be saying that pupils are looking for it to be hard but it's not. I know a lot of teachers have thought long and hard about doing it and there have been some blips in the marks last year apparently but that is normal for AQA too allegedly!

I'm a student too although I'm doing it at home with no teacher/tutor input so am finding it hard to know what the standard is like and what they expect. If you got a U does that mean you're re-sitting in Jan? Has your teacher given you help on where things went wrong last year and did you get to see your paper? Was this the first unit you took or did you get As in your other units?
If you want to continue the thread I'm happy to explore ideas/essay titles with you. It'll be good practise!:)
