Has anyone beside me heard of him. What do you think of him.
I think he is the greatest scifi author. Better than asimov even.

I wish kiku. Stanislaw Lem is a polish author. Many of his works have been translated into english. Futurological congress is a good full novel. He has also written short stories similar to Asimov. A good compilation is the cyberiad.
One of his books that was made into a movie was Solaris Starring George Clooney.

eww. Anyways, I was just walking by the scifi/fantasy shelves at my local bookstore today, and Solaras jumped off the shelf at me. I like noticed it out of the corner of my eye and stopped and took a peek. It looks interesting. Unfortunatley it was the only Lem book they had.

He's written A LOT of novels, although I have read only one of them and some of his short stories. Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? is mindblowing. Perhaps you've seen the movie version, Blade runner.

Unfortunatly most of his books are not best sellers, so they have to be ordered in. Most people haven't heard of him, it is a real shame.
Crisaor, is that the movie with the guest appearance by marylin manson?

No, Blade Runner is an '80s movie with Harrison Ford, right?
Yeah, right Kik
And I do know Stanislaw Lem, read some books a LONG time ago, and of what I remember, I liked the books... might go and re-read them when/IF I have time to.

Is it a shame thing when you considered yourself as a fan of Scific but you never even heard about Lem before?
I'm a fan of Scific and yet I never heard about him....

No, Stan, Marylin Manson is not in it (luckily).
As IWilKikU said, it was filmed in 1982, starring Ford and many other known actors. You should check it out. It's really worth it, specially if you like Science fiction. It's Ridley Scott's finest work if you ask me, btw.

I will check it out! I am always in search of a good author.
Sub, It is not really a shame thing, he is polish, and lately I am hearing alot of people saying that poland still is part of the ussr. It makes me cry.
Jay, I am so glad some one here has read his stuff, it is so great, I love it.
