But Only Temporarily...

I am taking a trip out to Chicago for two weeks. My plane leaves tomorrow and I am afraid I will not have too much internet access while I am away. I will check in and say hello to you guys whenever I have a moment though!!

The fall semester also starts two days after I get back, I will be working full time and going to school full time as well, so I will be a busy girl. So unfortunately, I will not get to hang out here as much as I have been. But for those of you who know me, I will still be hanging out here during my work hours :D

So wish me luck going through...grr...Airport Security...aaagghh!!!

I will be talking to you guys!

Grace

You know, Pen...being as small as I am, I take that quite seriously  The Santa Ana winds out here in California get pretty strong, and I need to hold on to someone :D Thanks.

Have a wonderful trip, grace, and we shall certainly miss you! Surely come back with all sorts of interesting stories (and airports themselves, these days, can create some . . . strange tales, too - oh, how such mundane and repetitive fear rules everyone's actions sometimes!).
Take care, anyway, and return soon! :D

Thank you Subterranean and Mono. I am sure I will be coming back with some interesting airport stories considering they will not even let you carry lip balm on the plane. I think I should actually get to packing my things soon.

I will miss you guys too. But I will be back in no time for sure...time goes by so fast when you are having fun...

Personally, I'd really love to know how you liked the city of Chicago (I once thought of going to uni there...). Do tell us your impressions when you get back, will you ? :)

Can't talk too long...but made it alive. I was sick halfway through the flight though! I think it was food poisoning from my breakfast at Denny's (For those who know which restaurant I am talking about!) I have never gotten sick on a flight before, eek...but I am all better now!

More info to come later.

Hmm, I have gotten sick after breakfast at Denny's too....too much grease. Glad you are feeling better, it is tough to sightsee and feel sick.

This brings back memories of chewing the fat at Denny's late at night in my high school days. Denny's was one of the standard late night places to go to since it's open 24 hours, and as a high schooler, I didn't mind the low quality of food (and conversation, for that matter). Yes, those were the days.

I'm glad you got better. I hope you have fun in Chicago.

Awww, just as you start coming around more, you have to leave again temporarily. :( Oh well, have a fun trip, sub, and we look forward to you returning; the forum does not seem the same without you. ;)

As was I! Glad to hear you had a good flight, enjoy yourself in the city! I have only, um, navigated Chicago airports, never been to Chicago.

Last time I ate breakfast at Denny's, I think I had a smilie face pancake(it was a number of years ago)

Well, as it turns out, I am about forty minutes from Chicago a bit in the country. This weekend I am supposed to take the train out to central Chicago to go to the science and industry museum and maybe a mummy museum as well (I do not know the name of it but it was brought up in conversation probably because of my interest in anthro.)

I went fishing today, caught a bluegill...kind of slow but I will be fishing again as well.

Also visited Lincoln National Cemetary, there are a lot of WWII, Korea, and Vietnam soldiers buried there. It was beautiful.

Haven't gotten much reading done. I had hoped to do that on the flight...but I already explained why I couldn't :D

Sorry I scared you Piglet, and Robin.

Good luck Sub, tell us about your trip when you get back okay! Stay safe and best of wishes to you.

(Glad I got a convo started about Denny's  )

Hi guys! Arrived home today and I hope you are all doing well.

Chicago was awesome, I took some pictures of the city so that I could post them here. But I will have to do that later as the camera was not mine.

Didn't spend too much time in Chicago itself, but when I was there I did some interesting things.

It was my first time on a train of any kind so that was cool. I am not one to hate public transportation so I found the buses and trains rather enjoyable.

I spent an entire day in the Museum of Science and Industry. For those of you not familiar with it some of the exhibits include actual slices of the human body in various parts, the growth of a human fetus, the human brain and heart (all real mind you)....leave it to me and the human stuff lol. But they also had wonderful exhibits on energy, atoms, genetics, planets, plumbing and computers and machinery...oh, and their food court is fabulous.

Another museum I visited was the Field Museum. The area was a little busy due to a Bears game in the stadium next door. Didn't spend too much time there but I got to see what I wanted to - the King Tut exhibit (AWESOME!!)

Went up Sears Tower and got some pictures, also went to Lake Michigan.

Outside of Chicago where I was staying I mostly did fishing and swimming and stuff....

But there is no place like home!
