In the story we are forced to believe that Naploeon is the evil character .
But if you keep thinking about it the animals really had no way out because
if Snowball the fellow boar had succeded in winning the election don't you think the same thing would have happened?i believe that Snowball would be come corrupt too despite the difference in character between the two young boars.i believe it is knowledge that corrupted Napoleon to become the tyrant we portray him to be.think is because i think that the smarter ones are always those who seek for power.Do you agree? please give me your opinion about this statement.

Snowball was different from Napoleon right from the star. It was easy to see that Snowball was true to the fundmental princapals of Anamialism from the start. In Snowball's world he would have had the power of the people, which is a volitile power that can be taken away at a whim. If Napoleon hadn't stolen the farm from the people and Snowball was elected, Anamialism may have succeeded.

Remember it was Snowball's desire to use the windmill to generate electricity while Napoleon only used it for storage. Snowball wish for animal retirement, drew up the seven commandments, duge up the skull of Old Major for the constant reminder of the struggle, and Snowball fought bravely in the Battle of Cowshed, where Napoleon the warrior could not be seen.

The two leaders had two different Utopias in mind.

Okay, it is true that the character Snowball may have followed the same path eventually, but let us not forget the allegory of this fairy story. Snowballs character was related directly to Trotsky who was over taken by Starlin. (forgive if i spell badly). So if Snowball continued to reign ,it would have broken the allegory. Napolien was always supposed to be the tyrant of the story, no one else, but it was a great tale in the form of the ideology of socialism being a 'utopian' idea, but in reality utopia dosn't exist. The ideas of distopia is presented in the allegory and really give a person something to think about, don't they?

There are two good reasons for reading ANIMAL FARM (aside from enjoyment of the book itself). The first is that it is a succeinct statement of Sovier history from the revolution to WWII. Napoleon is obviously Stalin, and Snowball is obviously Trotsky. Napoleon's showtrials, with confessions, mirror Stalin's. The change in the slogan of the revolution from "all animals are equal" mirror's Stalin's change of the Marxists slogan "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need" to "From each according to his ability to each according to his work", which was the justifacation to the enrichment of the Communist bureaucrats at the expense of the workers. Now that the Soviet Union is no more, the second reason is probably more valid. The political scientists George Michels, in about 1905, developed "The iron law of Oligarchy. This states that no matter how democratic the intentions or the formal constitution, any complex organization degenerates into a self-serving and self perpetuating oligarchy. This is because the complexity of the organization requires bureaucracy, and bureaucracy is inherently oligarchic.
