Does anyone know in which year "Out, Out-" was written? I've been trying to find the answer, but my books and the Internet have not been very helpful.

I'll see if I can find that out for you...I'm a huge Robert Frost fan, so my pleasure.

I found from some source that Robert Frost wrote "Out, Out" in about 1912, yet I feel unsure of the reliability of the source.
Hopefully this helps, regardless. :p

Mono... you were right to be unsure. It was not published in 1912, however, while I was inspecting the records of his early works, I came across it in the collection "Mountain Intervals" published in 1920..... so thanks :)

I read that it was written in 1912. sorry to be off the question,I love this part of out out :
They listened at his heart.
Little-less-nothing!-and that ended it.
No more to build on there. And they ,since they
Were not the one dead, turned to their affairs.
Frost (1874-1963)

I got a lot of weird looks becasue of it, but the first time I read that poem was while studying in school, and when I read that last line I couldn't help but laugh. No one really saw the humour in the last line, but I think its quite funny..... is it just me?

is it funny? I thought it's so ironic, describing the human nature and selfishness. now I'm interested, why did u laugh? myabe there is something laughable that i did not see.

It is the irony that I found funny. Just how bluntly he put it is amusing.
