Wrote most of this at a Pep Rally in school. Tuned and tinkered with it when I got home. Perhaps you'd like to comment? I'd appreciate whatever you'd care to add or say.

Obedience
Random roars, as the crowd finds itself lost,
seeking acceptance from group adherence.
They jump about in unison, colored in ignorance;
their school spirit shines of interdependence.

Collaborated noise with some odd purpose,
a chance at succeeding at some point in life.
Dancing for conformity, a way to celebrate the obvious,
while we ask you to die, whispering with intentful sighs.

Entertainment through confusion, a way to find care,
in this apathy that comes with blank hateful stares.
Popularity of an unknown group,
such irony to those outside the loop.
We laugh at their attempts to become one,
but feel pity for them to never know themselves for fun.

As elders give advice, to bring about reason,
while they all cheer and yell, to lie and sell;
more spirit comes from these corpses, out into a joyous recognition,
as we look on unknowingly of why they care.

It brings a smile to know they wish to conform,
so greatly they sacrifice reason for acceptance,
learning obedience from life seekers.
Meanwhile reality looks ever more bleak,
for the conformity we seek makes liberty weep.

Chanting and screaming to better know why,
to not even know, more like a lie.
But now they stand, to show allegiance,
hoping for safety in their ignorance.

They're tuned into patriotism, hushed from conformity,
the way we love to be blinded from truth and call everyone free,
how can they ever know what they see?
When everyone looks the same from their colored lives,
finding contrast in their hypocritical lies.

Such power comes from controlling these drones,
knowing how to conquer them brings you to to know,
just how they live and what they do,
but the simplicity of their lives will soon draw you in too,
leading you to conform and become one of them,
soon to be controlled by the greed of men.

I hate pep ralleys, I liked your poem.

"Such power comes from controlling these drones,
knowing how to conquer them brings you to to know,
just how they live and what they do,
but the simplicity of their lives will soon draw you in too,
leading you to conform and become one of them,
soon to be controlled by the greed of men."

That was my favorite verse.
