Their Eyes were watching God. It's came up a lot on the forum, but not many people have read it....including myself.

the Count of Monte Cristo is great!
actually, anything Russian or British would definitely suit me. as to the others - depends on the author.
For now, the nomenated books will be....hm....The Winter of Our Discontent.by John Steinbeck or perhaps Slaughterhouse-Five by K. Vonnegut.

"The winter of our discontent" sounds like a good idea, I've been wanting to read some steinbeck. Dumas--groan. Maybe we should do some beat generation with Jack Kerouac's "On the Road".

I'm afraid I won't be able to participate in January, have loads of stuff to learn, as in TONS of exams awaiting for me... I'm not even sure I'd manage to finish Drac...

Ok, sorry, I know that I've already nominated three books, but I would also like to nominate, Dickens - A Tale of Two Cities.

Crime and Punishment...*recalls good old school days* ah....It would be nice to re-read it as well as Wilde. I enjoyed The Picture of Dorian Gray immensely!
but no way I'm going to read Joyce again...or Melville...
May be we could go for Rushdie?....his Midnight's Children is bizarre, but I liked it =]

Shouldn't we be voting on the next book about now? Shall we have a thread with a poll for that? Also, do we have any volunteers to moderate the book club? (run polls, and the like)

azmuse

I never read any of Wilde's books, so this can be a good start for me (cause I want to join the book discussion also). I vote for this book too

uhh, should there be a different thread for voting? Or do we just keep shouting titles until January?

looks like we keep shouting. Although I'm in favor of a new thread for voting, and as Mr. Admin said he doesn't have time to moderate, it looks like someone in this democracy will just have to step up to the plate.
