Hello, I was wondering anyone more Bible savy than myself could help me. I'm looking for a reference in the Old Testiment dealing with the subject of someone lost being found..... any ideas?

New Testament - Matthew 18 vv11-14, Luke 15

Old Testament - story of Joseph, in Genesis chapters 38 onward;
or Saul, who lost some donkeys but founded a kingdom, 1 Kings 9.

You're right.

After losing his parents a boy is lost, alone, weak and clsoe to dying. He is found and taken in (the second part is the part that I need a biblical reference to)

I'm not sure whether you were referring to "lost" in its literary term. I think there are some verses in the Old book, which are referring to "spritual" lost:

Isaiah 49:21
Then shalt thou say in thine heart, Who hath begotten me these, seeing I have lost my children, and am desolate, a captive, and removing to and fro? and who hath brought up these? Behold, I was left alone; these, where had they been?

Psalm 119:176
I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant; for I do not forget thy commandments.

Ezekiel 34:16
I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick: but I will destroy the fat and the strong; I will feed them with judgment.

Jeremiah 50:6
My people hath been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray, they have turned them away on the mountains: they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their restingplace.

What about the Shepherd in Jesus's parable? The Shepherd leaves the 99 sheep and looks for the 1 lost sheep?
As well as the Parable immediately after about the Prodigal son? There is a last part about that which is lost has been found.
