It really depends what your definition of masculinity is. If by masculine, what you mean is macho, then Elizabeth reduces this. How do you translate him paying for Lydia's wedding? Gentlemen or *makes whipping noise* by Elizabeth? When Elizabeth tells him she won't marry him, she knocks him off his pedestal, and he becomes more of a gentleman, and less macho. Of course, her effect on him is ultimately positive.

hey...thanx. em, macho is one it. what about his egoistic?? does elizabeth characteristics change Mr Darcy's ego or his stand towards life?

yes, Elizabeth changes Darcy for the better. During his second proposal, he says that her berating him made him realize how selfish she was being, and what a spoiled person he had been. He even knew that her "frankness" would confirm his love for him when Lady Catherine comes to Longbourn
