The Most Informal Birthday Greetings

Well, Formality-Hater, my job today is easier
I usually write a sonnet for each person on his or her birthday.
But you are very different, rules and regulations are not for you
The beat of a different drummer is resounding in your ear.
So I do not have to make my words and lines
Match any sort of poetical equation.
I can boldly go where no poet has ever dared to go
And forgo the limits place upon me by structured stanzas.
Run up the flags, and if they are upside down,
Remember that the one who's day it is stands not on formality.
Boldly light the candles at both their ends,
Walk under the ladder, and toss the looking glass over your left shoulder!
And wish this mysterious person a happy UN-BIRTHDAY:
