Jamie and I are discussing exasperating professors who want frames on their freaking assignments. AAARRRGGGHHHH!!! This isn't a creative, artsy assignment...it's a report on the colonization of the island! Bleh!

Frames on your essay assignments, what kind of professor is that? Maybe he is obsessive compulsive or something along those lines. It's required?

You know, I found out the other day that drinking a cold beverage (like cold water) right before singing can rip your vocal cords....scared me senseless just a bit, now I conciously think about not singing when I am drinking my tea or sodas!

lol...

did you know that the average person has only one birthday a year? My sister and I couldn't believe it, either...so we took a massive poll one year asking people how many birthdays they each had a year, and we added all their answers up, and divided by the number off people we polled...and gosh darn it, it was true!

beanbean
06-28-2006, 01:44 PM

Or, we could celebrate half birthday's and have a party every time someone is six months (half a year) away from their birthday!!

Alright, I got this in my inbox this morning and I thought that I would share it with all the people here. I am also trying to post it other places, because it is semi-amusing, even if it never really did happen.

Subject: Teacher Arrested at JFK
>
>
>At New York's Kennedy airport today, an individual later discovered to be a public school teacher, was arrested trying to board a flight while in possession of a ruler, a protractor, a setsquare, a slide rule, and a calculator.
>
>At a morning press conference, Attorney General Gonzales said he believes the man is a member of the notorious al-gebra movement. He is being charged by the FBI with carrying weapons of math instruction.
>
>Al-gebra is a fearsome cult," Gonzales said. "They desire average solutions by means and extremes, and sometimes go off on tangents in a search of absolute value. They use secret code names like 'x' and 'y' and refer to themselves as 'unknow ns', but we have determined they belong to a common denominator of the axis of medieval with coordinates in every country. As the Greek philanderer Isosceles used to say, 'there are 3 sides to every triangle'."
>
>When asked to comment on the arrest, President Bush said, "If God had wanted us
>to have better weapons of math instruction, He would have given us more fingers and toes"

I was drinking a Pepsi the other day and started reading the side of the can. A tidbit of overlooked information jumped out at me. Near the bottom of the can, in a fat, vertical arrow pointing downwards, was a flavor factoid:

For best taste, drink by date at bottom of can
Well, I decided to try it on my next can of Pepsi. I found an old, nearly-forgotten churchkey, turned the Pepsi can upside-down, and opened it right beside the date I found on the bottom. For some reason, it really DID taste better!

I don't know, sounds quite random to me. That is disgusting though, who'd want to drink rotten coffee beans?

The puppy (sound cute btw :D ) seems quite normal to me, in fact they're lucky as my Jack Russel/Spaniel delights in scaring our local paper boy to death by jumping up to get post while he's still delivering it and trapping cats in my brother's bedroom (she really did, it got stuck in between the wall and his bed poor thing)

Apparantly the game he wants to play doesn't start, and he's a bit upset about it, later on he is playing, and maybe gets killed a few times. Later on he is very happy about having killed someone in the game, and moments later he gets killed by some projectiles that have the shape of keyboard keys.

I would like to point out that german is the perfect language for this kind of situation, as the kid so kindly illustrates.

hehe, yep i think you're correct.. couldn't watch it but the sound worked... he says stuff like "play, you wh**e-son" (= like s.o.b. but a lot stronger).
I'll try to watch it again later and tell you in more detail what he's saying... it will have lots of * in it :)

I cannot help, but laugh at the video, though his ill temper really unsettles me! A long video clip of yelling, smashing computer keyboards, slamming mousepads, etc. - it sounds like another potential day in the film, Office Space. :D

The cells of the cornea of the eye get oxygen not from the blood -- blood vessels in the cornea would obstruct the purpose and function of the cornea -- but from osmosis, penetrating through the membranes because of the presence of tears.

 Hey, the thread is random stuff. That means either going into a trance and allowing brainwave static to do the typing, or saying something non-random, with actual meaning, but totally unrelated to anything going on around you whereever you are, or in the thread, or in the literature forums. At least, that what it seems to mean to me.

Kelly_Sprout
07-21-2006, 07:48 AM
Skitterish means to be nervous, jumpy, a little bit scared of everything, dodging away from movements seen out of the corner of the eye, etc. It is often used as an adjective that modifies horses that are difficult to control or prone to making unexpected movements that can cause their riders to fall.

In my post above, I'm making a play on words by saying that if a person is skitterish, he or she "ducks (dodges) anyone."
