I recently left the paralegal world in which I was prisoner for many years. Have started my own small business, and hope to get back to my oft-interrupted writing. Kids are grown and we have a small lakehouse we run to each weekend. It overlooks overlooks a lovely lake. Has a screened porch facing the lake that is perfect for writing....if I can get into the habit. Several years ago, I published a couple of magazines articles, 3 stories in a children's textbook and created/edited a couple of church women's newsletters. Also have a book completed that has been with a very nice but inadequate agent for over 3 years now. I'm ready to get it back and set out again to publish the book. Have another book of different genre that starts and stops in fits as my life goes up and down. Am interested in other creatives who have feelings of inadequacies in their abilities and fears of failure and deceiving themselves into believing their works can stand on store bookshelves as well as anyone.
On a specific note: I have a very old, small color illustrated book with Longfellow's picture on the front. "The Day is Done" looks like an original printing and has theword "Elsie" handwritten inside the front cover. No date. Anyone have any idea who Elsie is and/or if I stumbled on a real value when I picked it up at a garage sale for 50 cents a few years ago. Although yellowed through the years, it's in great shape. The poem, of course, is such a masterpiece that I feel like I should put it behind glass for preservation.
