The Girl With the Floating Head

Amanda Isabel turned fourteen,
Living her life as a floating head:
They found her skimming across the soup tureen,
Rowing with her pigtails towards the French Bread!
There stood her cake like the Eiffel Tower,
Crowned with candles, fourteen in all;
All lit and blazing at full candle-power--
She was drawn to it like a moth!
Her friends and family all gathered 'round,
To give the birthday gal a good surprise:
In truth, t'was they who could not make a sound
As the floating head made them doubt their eyes!
To the Gal who never is worried or flustered:
And made a pet of a friend of mine, a Dragon named Custard!
