Hello, I'm Mike, a Lil'rock Hi English teacher in Lil'rock, CA, down the blvd from Palmdale and Lancaster in the Antelope Valley (aka, Hi Desert Hell). As you will surely notice presently, I embrace email-ese, the utmost spelling nightmare of ol' school marms. My favorite old t-shirt read: "Hookt on fonix werkt fer mee!"
My user name seems to be cut off. It should read: misterwhitetiger. Only my students have to use Mr. You can call me Mike. I'm here to curtail any unauthorized "studying" by my students, next year's freshman and sophomores who must read Ethan Frome and Lord of the Flies this summer. I figure if I hit all the hot spots for background info and then offer it to them, then they'll be more willing to use these resources effectively. Then again, today's internet-teen is more savvy than ever, so who knows what'll happen!
I'm also here to do just what I expect the students to do: find out more about Ethan, Edith, Lord..., and Golding than I already know. In fact, I just read Ethan Frome for the first time. I don't know how I missed this in all my lit classes...God, it was more fun than the Brontes' Jane... and Wuthering... . Better? Mmmm. No.
Ahhh, well. Enuf rantin'
Here's me. Have a day!
Mike
