sure you guys have all heard it, describe a work which gives the reader both pleasure and disquietude. Anyway mine is due in a few days for finals and I have no ideas, I was thinking of possibly working with Ethan Frome. Any suggestions or better books for the topic. Any help would be appreciated.

Well, just about all of Dostoevsky can fall into that category. In fact, much of Russian literature fits that category. Chekhov is another. Do you have to read the entire book that you write about? If so, you may not have time to read Dostoevsky, so you might want to try some Chekhov short stories. And now as I'm typing, I'm also reminded of Poe. Poe may be the way to go.

There's so many, really. You could use some of the dystopic ones like 1984 and Brave New World, because the social commentary and insight is stunning, but it's disturbing that the world is not too far off from what is described there. Poe might be good too, and if you really want to be adventurous you could talk about Naked Lunch.

... Aren't APs at the beginning of May, though? All of mine were.
