Here is something weird I lived its details last month.

My life never has something extraordinary or unbelievable!! You know like anyone I wish to be struck by something that is rarely-to-happen (but in its good sense), like discovering that I have royal descent (though my parents are real royal to me) or at least meeting with someone of Heathcliff type lol. Well these were in my teenage and as my life goes that thing happened at last. But it was not for me :D but to someone close to me .Last month I went shopping with my dearest friend. We stopped at the gate coz I wanted to check my account. She said let me check mine too to see if it'll cover what she gonna buy(poor lass). She did the operation more than once ,so I asked what's wrong? Her account was doubled like TEN times. We screamed and stared at the ATM and could not believe what happen! Rechecking for the million time the number which supposed to be with two ZEROES glittered with four ZEROES!!! Instead of this event turning our shopping to luxurious trip, we were burdened by the extra money :confused: .After long deliberate thinking, I told her that she should check with her bank and ask. She did and it was a mistake(of course) coz she moved from where the company is to another branch in my city .Her salary (which the company collected for months and gave it at once)were given to her by the two branches, the first branch clerk was not aware of her removal. They draw the extra money with no reward for her honesty :mad: .Now she wishes to punch me for my valuable advice and will be thankful for me if I keep my advice for myself :D

Your friend should thank you because the bank would have caught the error anyway. (I used to work in banking) If she had spent her "windfall" she would have been in the unenviable postition of paying it back to the bank. Honesty really is the best policy...

And no, not too many banks give rewards for stuff like that. Maybe if you foil a bank robbery.

Don't you know honesty is its own reward. ;) I've never had two zeroes turn into four (that's one lulu of a mistake!). I think the biggest money error that ever happened with me was when the credit card company charged me one dollar for a one hundred dollar purchase. Obviously I reported it, but the woman who answered the phone said I was the first person in her two years of working there she had heard trying to report being undercharged, which I found surprising. Apparently people only bother if they've been overcharged.

Funny you should ask: today a man walked up to me in a parking lot and, without saying a word, handed me a small blue and orange bauble with a keychain attached to it. There was a note attached to the keychain. It read "Dear Sir or Madam: I am a deaf person, and am selling these handcrafted keychains for $3.00 each. Would you like to buy one?" I regretfully explained to the gentleman that I didn't have any change, (we don't have a one-dollar bill here in Canada) and was just about to kick myself for stupidly talking aloud to a deaf man when he shrugged, punched me in the arm (friendly like), took back his keychain and walked away.

Not quite as monumentous as having your bank account myteriously multiplied by 100, but a bit odd, none the less.

An aquaintance of my mother's, was once in the theater, suddenly in the middle fo the performance, the lead actor, (a very handsome gentleman) stopped, his speech, walked over to the edge of the scene, and asked "if the at beautifull woman in the red shall, would pleease meet him after the show for coffee?" she said yes, the show resumed, and they've been happily married ever since.

i have to ditto for everything everyone on this thread has said. the fact is, it's better to be honest, and if she wasn't, well, karma is quick you know. (that is, if you believe in karma.) just assure your friend that the right thing was done, and if not, well, give her some space. :)
