What is the atmosphere of the court routine that begins Scene 2? cant figure this out

King Hamlet (our present Hamlet's father) has only recently been buried; his brother has married the late King's wife really quickly afterward (probably to cement his position politically). So he's throwing a party to get all the Danish nobles drunk so they can ignore this rather rapid transition; but at the same time he wants to appear to undertsand why some might have qualms about it, which would give legitimacy to this arrangement, as long as nobody asks any bothersome question (as Hamlet does).
