Before posting a request for an author's works here--be it a short story, poetry, play, or a novel, please consider the information contained in this link at the University of Pennsylvania's Online Books page (http://74.125.95.132/search?q=cache:im2VNtIIdIEJ:onlinebooks.library.up enn.edu/okbooks.html+onlinebooks.library.upenn.edu/okbooks.html%23whatpd&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=ca).
onlinebooks.library.upenn.edu/okbooks.html#whatpd
especially the section --> "In the United States, the following rules apply:" (because this site is based in the United States.)
Basically, *anything* with a publishing date of 1923 or later can not be posted here.

Regarding Specific Author Discussion Forums:
This site is designed to only have specific discussion forums for those authors who have at least a few of their works in the public domain.*
The Author List for specific discussion forums can be found here: http://www.online-literature.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=17
The database for all e-texts, be they novels, short stories, poetry, and non-fiction of various types corresponding with the above author's discussion forums can be found in the Author Index here: http://www.online-literature.com/author_index.php
***
Any other authors whose works are copyright protected and do not have any works in the public domain (ie: books, plays, essays, poetry etc etc published after 1923) do not have their own forum*, but can be discussed in the General Literature forum here: http://www.online-literature.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=4
***
While the list of authors and their books, stories, poetry, non-fiction etc. etc. being added to the site is an ongoing project, we welcome suggestions for additions! :)

* there are now, and for future additions, a few exceptions to this, ie: George Orwell.

Please! respect the copyright laws of the United States and/or your own country when posting content to the discussion forums here.
*Anything* published during or after the year 1923 can *not* be posted here in its entirety--be it a story, news item, review, article, essay, novel, poem, translation, image, sound file etc. etc.
Just because "content"--be it a story, news item, review, article, essay, novel, poem, translation, image, sound file, etc. etc. is on another website does not necessarily mean that there is permission to post it here.
From the Forum Rules: (http://www.online-literature.com/forums/announcement.php?f=9)
5. If you are going to refer to or use content from other sites, authors, or entities, you must include a link or citation for it. You cannot copy and paste entire articles, stories, poems, or etc. from other sites or entities as that is copyright infringement, and contributes nothing to discussion. You should not need more than a few lines, sentences, or maybe a paragraph, to make your point in reference to the topic/discussion. From Copyright.gov (http://www.copyright.gov/help/faq/faq-fairuse.html); “Under the fair use doctrine of the U.S. copyright statute, it is permissible to use limited portions of a work including quotes, for purposes such as commentary, criticism, news reporting, and scholarly reports.” Passing off others’ work as your own, whether unintentionally or purposefully, is copyright infringement, and the Literature Network abides by the Copyright Laws of the United States of America and of other countries where applicable..
