:D seal hunt...personally I don't understand the idea, but then again...why not just kill them all...and then revisit the issue and see who is complaining. :D

I would love to get into this discussion very deeply but I would be far too political since I can't help but make comparisons to other non-laws in Canada.

So I think I'd have to go with Stan's answere, maybe we can start by clubbing those in charge or such matters.

I've no problem with it.

Frankly, living in an area with many Seals, they are pesky creatures. What gives this issue support is, of course, because they are cute.

I can certainly understand why people have problems with people clubbing seals down, but that's life. You can't live on this planet without killing something.

Killing seals for their fur, which is primarily done with bullets now, is no more `cruel' or `inhumane' than any other industry that kills sentient creatures for man's sustenance or profit.

Or.. how about sport fishing, where the fish is first caught with a hook, has it's mouth torn to shreds, then is let go. Oh right, but they aren't `cute' so who protests that? At least seals have a somewhat reasonable existence in the `wild' before they are killed, unlike so many other creatures that are `farmed', so far removed from any semblance of what their natural procilivities are.

That's right Gawaine, it's mainly because they are `cute' that people get so upset about it.

Very well said!

In Canada It is now illegal to fish with a barbed hook, it Is supposed to be more humane...the hooks are just straight.

Heh, people are always swayed by the cute factor...how many save the hagfish groups are there? :D

As for cloathing and sustenence...anyone read a modest proposal? :D :D :D
