(i didn't have anything to do and this just popped in my head.)

this thread may be running a little late for mother's day, but anyway,

describe your mom in any way you want.

i'll start.

my mom was quite different. she raised me, so far, very liberally. she just lets me do what i want. if i want to go out i'll just tell her who i'm with and when i'll probably be home, and she just lets me. when i'm late she just sends me an sms like, 'where are you, it's already late.' but all in all, my mom is one of my best friends.

your turn, pbm...

My mother was an artist and a teacher, a creative and talented person. We didn't always get along, and she didn't protect me as she should have, but I love and miss her.

I'm going to sponge off my mom this weekend. She has a comp room in vegas this wekend and I'm staying for free. I think I will be able to get a dinner out of her also.

My mother is the loveliest woman there could be. She is beautiful and I sure hope I'll look a little like her in time. I would love her even if she weren't my mother because she is very kindhearted and intelligent. She is always there for me and understands me. She has always believed in me and never once said I couldn't do something. And I know she's proud of me even when I'm not because she knows I'm trying to do things right.

How and in what way can I possibly describe my mother with accuracy?
My mother I have always found as one of the most supportive, perceptive, intuitive, warm, positive, reflective, and forgiving people I have encountered. She has inspired greatly my care for others, my expression of emotions, and seemed one of my greatest inspirations to work as a nurse.

I must, too, admit of my father.
No way can I accurately describe him, either. I have always thought of my father as astonishingly wise (equivalent to a sage in my eyes), witty, very warm, prudent, reflective, and a deep thinker. He has inspired my immense skepticism of everything, my thought, my expression of thought and emotion, and has greatly inspired me to write (poetry and plays, particularly).

In essence, I think myself very lucky to have such loving parents, and I cannot imagine what kind of person I would appear without them. :)

She is very kind and lovely. She can not see me crying or in trouble. She is always a helping hand to me but she is very protective of me and she says that it is for my own good. I can't hide anything from her, my feelings, ideas and things I want to keep secret are always revealed infront of my mother!

My mom has terrible taste. But I love her.
She is a truley strong woman: bringing up a family of seven childeren while my dad was ill n the couch for months at a time.
I'm so glad to see such love for our motheres! Where would be without them?!!

Perhaps I remained a little too optimistic and positive in my message, but I entirely share empathy here with you, IrishCanadian. With my family, certain topics of discussion have seemed unofficially banned, such as religion and politics. Nonetheless, of course, I love her will all of my heart. :D

Do not worry about that, whose mother does not!
You just touched upon my feelings saying that your mother raised up her seven children alone. You gave me another reflection of my mom who sacrificed for her little children, whom happily she watches now growing and excelling in their fields. Those mothers are the most precious treasure that we have. Whenever I achieve something and see how it reflects on Mom, I know that this is just enough for me and I don't want anything else from the world! My mom is my Achill's weakness. Everyday I learn from her how to love, to care, to sacrifice. Let's return some of their favor. They are dear gifts given to us. Let's not forget how much they need us and need our care and love.

My Mom is the rock of my life. She has always been there for me and my sister, and supported any decision we made, questionable or not. She is both tough and generous. Mom has beaten both gum cancer and breast cancer, and continues to work as an astrologer at 77 years of age. She can face down an intruder, or give emotional comfort.
Mom raised us both after Dad, who was a drunk and played around, left for another woman. This woman was unbalanced, and spray-painted hate messages on our house, but Mom handled the distraction and continued working to support the family.
She is my best friend--outside my relationship--and one of my closest confidantes. I could not have asked for a better mother.

That's very inspiring about your mom.

My mom is hardworking, can be pushy at times, but it's all to make sure we succeed. She still hasn't learned a lot of English, even though we've lived in the US for close to 14 years, but she makes an effort in communicating when she absolutely has to. I love her, and really, I can't imagine having another mother.

Thanks for all the wonderful comments. It's hard to admit to being in awe of your own mother, but that is the fact. Again, thanks for your appreciation; I'll pass the good feelings on to her.
