tick tock

[Satine]

time moves by slowly as
i hear the ticking of the watch
on my wrist

i look down and memory
floods my brain
pictures in my mind
refuse to leave
and as I feel myself
being pulled under
i gasp and beg for it to please....
stop.

it seems now that
time
only makes things clearer
when I'd rather they'd
just fade---down
and away.

the good things drown
my thoughts and
the bad seem to be
forgotten,
there was a reason
for this,
for all of this but now
I want reality to step
aside.

for just a moment?

and somewhere between
the tears that drip down
my skin and the cry
of a child in need
i remember...
why.
