around the corner i turn

i step into the hall
my head lowered
watching the steps i take

i glance up and see you
you there in all your beauty
i look down again

taking it all in
seeing you in my mind
i take a slow, deep breath

my eyes open
and i see your face
the radiance of your smile

your soft, beautiful lips
your eyes find mine
i smile and you look away

i frown and sigh once again
did she even see me?
or did she look right through me

i would never know
she would never tell
around the corner i turn
