The Soldiers

The soldiers carry a bayonet
Fresh from the sheath
It will sting like a hornet
As you feel in the sun beneath

The soldiers kill silently
For it is their job to see them die
Swinging their guns violently
Yet without realizing why

Killing for politics, they stand
Killing with zeal
Of which nothing they understand
Confiscating the populace of even their meal

The solders go around street to street
Sowing seeds of death and hate
And addressing everyone they meet
Any love they find they confiscate

But the hope still remains there
The time will pass when they learn to love
But it will come with care
And put their friendship into hearts like a dove

Whereas remains a single date
I will honor the human race
To never learn to rightly hate
And to never wield nor sword or mace.

Good poem. I like the rhyme scheme as well as the message. :)
