Welcome to the litnet.
You'll find we may not be as serious as we appear at first glance, but we try.

I read a few Seamus Heaney poems in my British lit. class last semester. I liked him, from the few poems we read. What did you have in mind for discussion?

thank u Chmpman !
what I'm mostly interested in is to have more and more info about his notion of poetics? what is language of poetry? and how should it be? I need to widen my knowledge in that! though I've read his Preoccupations and one more prose work! I found it very helpful but his very rich language and style took me some effort to get his meaning! now Im looking for some anlysis and other readers' views on his prose writings to have full understanding of his notions about poetry and language.

thanx

WaRm-IcE hello :)

You might want to start a new topic on Seamus Heaney's poetry in the Poems, Poets, and Poetry section (http://www.online-literature.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=8) where more people will see it.

I like Heaney. 'Mid Term Break' always brings a tear to my eye.

Hi there and welcome. I am also a fan of Heaney's. I saw a reading of his once on TV and it was great. Plus he has this really wonderful, expressive voice.

I've only read a few poems of his. "Punishment", "Graubelle (sp?) Man" and "Digging". Never any of his prose works, so I probably won't be much help, at least for now, but someday I'll have to check it out. I liked his poetry, his rich language comes across in that as well.

But you should really start a thread about him. Post your favorite poem, and/or some excerpts from his prose writings and a few of us may venture to discuss him with you.
