I'm not sure how many of you are aware, but a band called the Waterboys recorded a version of Yeats' Stolen Child many years ago. There is a live version on their myspace site that was recorded a few days ago in Utrecht. I suggest following the link and giving a listen. It's beautiful, fantastic, and perfect for a Friday...

Works OK on mine - and it's a great arrangement of the poem - the original on "Fisherman's Blues" is great too - probably my favourite album by the boys.

Link works for me. Is there an online version of the studio song, Jarndyce?
Thanks for alerting me! That was fun . . .

Yep. Fisherman's Blues is exceptional.
I'm not certain about an online version of the cut. Sorry.

Mike Scott (the lead singer) went solo and recorded an amazing album called "Bring em All In" recently. I strongly strongly recomend it.
Lorenna McKennit (spelling?) also put music to Stolen Child but the Waterboys one is way better.

Only just joined and came across your (12 May'06) message:

Followed link but could not find the live track. Please, please let me know how to get it.
Thanks,
Daud

The link still works. On the right of their page at the top there is a selection of four songs you can listen to. "The Stolen Child" is the last one, you just have to click on the title to hear it, although the myspace music players are pretty dodgy and don't always work.

After posting I did stumble across what you say. However, as you also say, myspace music player pretty "dodgy" and certain that hearing the performance via it was absolutely nothing like the experience that compelled Jarndyce's original post.
So was hoping that was/about to be on an official CD or could download a 'decent' version
