Here Robin! And THAT IS WHAT I'M TALKIN' ABOUT! YOU ROCK! Good parody song man! Great! (Funny how the two of us both love the Eagles considering that I'm probable old enough to be your dad!) Hee! :D
Perhaps someone who can write music, not lyrics can put the music to this for me? It should have Latino syle guitars. The wolf howl on the end can be electronicly mixed, I believe? I can play and sing this one, but my guitar style is somewhat unorthadox, having learned to play everything by ear, no music lessons.
Song of El Lobo
Soft in the stillness, in the cold light of the moon—
I hear the sound come drifting on the wind.
And high on some lofty crag, nose pointed to the sky—
El Lobo lets forth that cry again!
Part of me just trembles; part of me grows cold;
The eerie notes give part of me the chills—
Yet a part deep inside of me that cry somehow calls,
And my spirit longs to roam the lonely hills—
With El Lobo—
Wild, free Lobo…
Somehow I see him sitting there face lifted to the sky—
And I hear his voice as he calls to his mate.
Far off down the canyon, I hear her joyous reply—
I know she’s rushing now to where he awaits!
Together I hear their voices, singing their wild, free song—
A duet of love in perfect harmony!
Yet there are those who cannot understand why I should love their song—
Or why that it is music to me!
The Song of El Lobo—
Wild, free Lobo…
Tonight my spirit seems to soar, to float up into Night Skies—
With the wild wolf band I roam the lonely hills.
My problems and my cares, ah, they are left so far behind—
Gazing down from heights; experiencing new thrills!
Upon some forgotten summit, my face lifted to the sky,
Staring at the Moon as she stares back at me—
My voice rings out clear and strong into the night—
An exultant cry of endless ecstasy!
Like the song of El Lobo—
Wild, free Lobo…
Maybe someday I’ll finally be—
As free as I can be—
Free as El Lobo!
Wild, free Lobo!
(End on wolf howling in the distance.)

Yo, Robin! I've got a parody of The Eagles Hit The Last Resort
LitNet Paradise
They came from cyberspace—
Out in the real world,
Where their cares and problems hung
Heavy in the air.
Packed up their hopes and dreams,
and their philosophies—
Somewhat like explorers on
Some endless sea
They found this forum where
There were lots of similes—
Heard other people say
"Edgar Alan Poe's the Man!"
They came from everywhere—
The LitNet grew in size;
As they sought a place to stay—
Or soliloquize...
There were bandwidth overloads—
Too many people posting!
Admin could not believe
This site was far beyond all boasting!
We called it "Paradise",
"The Only Place To Be!"
Adimn watched the forum grow
Exponentially.
Lack of bandwidth slowed it down—
But they kept on joining!
Soon people 'round the world,
Had friends they might have missed knowing!
Posting several times a day,
From lands others never knew—
Inventing games and puzzles
And other things to do.
The poets came and wrote their rhymes—
Discussion threads were formed.
We even have a band and newspaper now—
So no one ever gets bored.
We call LitNet "Our Piece of Paradise"—
I don't know why.
Occasionally people will lock horns,
And sometime sparks will fly.
Moderators say "We can't have that now!
Have some respect for others!"
Most get the message and obey—
Others can be bothered.
So we've seen some come and go—
And some that tried to leave:
We're more like a family now—
Not just refugees.
So who provides the final line
On what is yours and what is mine?
Don't loose sight of what brought us here!
Stand united, without fear.
To satisfy our hopes and dreams—
Persuasion works as well as deeds.
You'd almost think this destiny—
Our LitNet forum.
So keep on posting, friend,
Evening or morning—
Let us all hear about
How much you like it here.
LitNet is "Our Piece of Paradise"—
I think I know why--
And to think I almost lost this paradise—
Kissed it good-bye (go to falsetto)

Sounds good, Robin: Another parody Eagles Hit Life Has Been Good to Me So Far
The LitNet Has Been Good For Me So Far!
Hey, we joined the LitNet—
Didn't cost us a dime.
But it sure gets addicting—
Takes up all our time.
Posting like crazy—
Keeping up with the threads.
Tryin' to recall the words to a song
Sung by The Grateful Dead.
They me call me crazy but I have a good time,
The poets even turn the obituaries into beautiful good-byes!
The LitNet has been good for me so far!
My old slow computer
Couldn't keep up the pace.
Got me a new one
To surf cyberspace.
I'm churning the rhymes out,
Keeping up with the beat.
It's kinda like an addiction—
(gotta remember to eat!)
Got e-mail, chat, and PM—
Available to all.
So leave me a message—
Darn right, I'll call!
I know I talked about leavin' but I was a fool—
Everything's cool [The Band repeats COOL]
You can get a better education here than in many a school!
The LitNet has been good for me so far!
We sometimes stay on the forum—
Running on caffeine and fun.
But it's hard to leave
In the middle of something.
We might never wind up
With fortune or fame.
But nobody that comes here
Will leave quite the same.
My kids call me lazy 'cause this takes all my time—
OH YEAH? [The Band repeats YEAH!]
Too bad! I'm gonna keep going and don't ask me why!
The LitNet has been good for me so far!

Pendragon asked, so shall I answer...
THE LITNET CAFé
A parody of The Sad Café by the Eagles
Out on the LitNet threads, the posts
were swiftly coming
The Mods and Administrators had
logged off and gone away.
Up in the PM Inbox, the friends came softly calling
And we remember the times we spent
inside the LitNet Café
Oh, it seemed like a holy place,
protected by amazing grace
And we would all write in bold, the
things we could not say
We thought we could change this world
with names like "Rachel" and "Robin"
We were part of the family there
Inside the LitNet Café
Oh, expecting to fly,
we would meet on those beautiful threads in the
sweet by-and-by
Some of our dreams came true,
some just passed away :bawling:
And some of us stay here still
inside the LitNet Café.
Then Fate rolled in, it ripped and tore
Now that Jakobin, he don't stop here no more
Now I look at the years gone by,
and wonder at the powers that be.
I don't know why Fortune smiles on some
and lets the rest go free
Maybe the time has drawn the faces I recall
But things on these Forums change very quickly,
Or they never change at all
There's no use in asking why,
it just turned out that way
So meet me at midnight, (your time)
inside the LitNet Café.
Why don't you meet me at midnight, baby,
inside the LitNet Café?
Dedicated to the memory of Jakobin

Excellent, Robin. A fitting tribute to Jackobin. Beautiful and as Liz said, bittersweet. I won't even attept to top it. That is the lead song for the album. We had a writter out there who just needed a lttle nudge.
What we need now is to decide what goes on with that song, and I think we have an album.
Man, that's beautiful writing.

Is that a hint to start a new thread, pen?
:DWouldn't hurt. But the song as my copy of the lyrics and my album have it ends on the words: "Here at the Sad Cafe" in tribute to the song that Robin so brilliantly parodied. I needed something there, so I put "How 'bout that LitNet Cafe?". After Robin's smash hit (Think Top 40 there, and well deserving of it!), I can't bring myself to pardoy another song right now. That was just awesome. http://www.cosgan.de/images/midi/musik/b020.gif

Well. let me say, this doesn't top Robin's song. That should be the tile cut on the parody album. But I did parody another Eagles Hit Learn to Be Still
They Live In Us Still
It's just another day in LitNet paradise
As I’m logging on again—
With my mind still filled with memories
Of Those voices from “The Lost Ones” Thread
Voices that somehow were silenced—
I try to understand but I probably never will.
But though gone they’re not forgotten—
They live in us still—
They live in us still…
[Guitar music]
You see, I could tell you something about losses—
How bad it feels to be alone.
You can end up wandering 'round some forsaken desert—
And wind up taking the wrong road home.
But the clock rings for another—
They have to answer that old bell;
And one more friend that we all know and love—
Bids a bittersweet farewell—
But they live in us still—
They live in us still…
[Guitar music]
Now we need to cultivate their memories—
Maybe write each name on some cyberspace wall!
When I promised Jack would never be forgotten—
I wasn’t just clacking my old jaws! Oh,oh—
[Instrumental]
[Solo]
How can we make it a tradition?
When we loose another friend?
(We keep asking)
How could something like that happen?
And the shock just never seems to end—
Never seems to end.
Though the world is torn and shaken—
Even if our hearts are breaking—
We got to hold own to what made our friends worth making!
Never let it go unrevealed—
They live in us still—
They live in us still…
[Guitar music]
Keep them alive! Oh, yeah…
Gotta keep them alive, they live in us still…

And in honor of the most hotly contested and I believe longest running thread on the LitNet, another parody of an Eagles Hit Hole In the World Tonight
The whole song is sung acapella. My own way of doing it is to chord a guitar, and then use my fingers to tap the guitar body like a bongo drum two fingers, three fingers, two fingers is the beat. It makes a faint sound from the strings and just a tapping from the hollow body of the guitar.
Hole In the LitNet World Tonight
There's a hole in the LitNet world tonight
So much grief and sorrow
There's a hole in the LitNet world tonight
Is there gonna be a hole in the LitNet world tomorrow?
Some say evolution is justified; creationism unproven.
Good and evil are just states of mind.
All this fighting and name-calling doesn't serve any purpose.
Children, how can we be so blind?
There's a hole in the LitNet world tonight
So much grief and sorrow
There's a hole in the LitNet world tonight
Is there gonna be a hole in the LitNet world tomorrow?
Creationists speak about a land over yonder,
Joy everlasting, life without end!
But when we can't even take the time to love one another
Tell me, who's gonna make it to this Promised Land?
There's a hole in the LitNet world tonight
So much grief and sorrow
There's a hole in the LitNet world tonight
Is there gonna be a hole in the LitNet world tomorrow?
There's a hole in the world tonight
OH, all this fighting and name-calling doesn't serve any purpose—
Is there gonna be a hole in the LitNet world tomorrow?
There's a hole in the LitNet world tonight
Tell me children how can we be so blind?
Is there gonna be a hole in the LitNet world tomorrow?
There's a hole in the LitNet world tonight
If we can't take the time to just love one another--
Is there gonna be a hole in the LitNet world tomorrow?
There's a hole in the LitNet world tonight
Tell me, now, who's gonna make it to that Promised Land?
Is there gonna be a hole in the LitNet world tomorrow?
Is there gonna be a hole (hold two beats)
Is there gonna be a hole in the LitNet world (hold three beats)
Tomorrow....
Tomorrow....

Thank you. Robin was the inspiration behind the parody songs, and wrote what I still consider to be the very best. I'd love to hear the album made. Let's see, we have, what, five parody songs? A CD usually will have at least say, 10. So we need 5 more. Hummmm. "Hotel LitNet" needs to be in there somewhere don't you think, Robin? I've also been thinking about The Eagles song Get Over It! but I'm unsure of how to procede with that one. ;) Maybe then New Kid In Town That would make three and we'd still be short two. I might try to do that "Hotel LitNet" if you haven't already started it. Producer! What do we have for other albums?

Parody of Eagles Hit Hotel California
We had to have this one...No Eagles pardoy album would be complete without it. Sorry, guys, I seem to be on a roll.
Hotel LitNet
Out on the cyberspace highway—
Popup windows everywhere:
I was looking for an oasis,
Just a place to clear the air.
Suddenly there on my search page window,
Beckoning like a neon light—
Was a name that made my head begin to swim—
Looked like a fun place, all right!
So I clicked on the Home Page—
Checked everything out for a while:
Then I figured me out a sign-on name
And an atvar that fitted my style.
At first I felt like a man with a candle—
Now a searchlight wouldn’t be out of place.
You can hear sweet voices calling you—
From people of every Nation and Race…
Welcome to the Hotel LitNet!
Come, join up, do! Tell us all about you!
There’s always plenty of room at the Hotel LitNet!
We’re just a click away! Waiting to hear what you’ve got to say!
We’ve got pretty much all the basics—
Some threads that never seem to end.
Classics, philosophy, religion and poetry—
And just chatting with your friends.
We’ve taken fun to the very highest levels,
Formed a newspaper and a band.
And hey, this old songwriter they call Pen—
Well, his name is now a household word in many lands.
Why don’t you give us a call, now?
There’s always somebody who’s online—
It don’t take to long to get used to us,
And brother, we’ll treat you fine!
Can’t you hear all our voices calling,
We’re not that far away.
But we might wake you up in the middle of the night,
Just to hear us say—
Welcome to the Hotel LitNet!
What’s your philosophy? You can join for free!
We’re living it up at the Hotel LitNet!
Come on inside! Leave the world behind!
Threads on almost any subject—
Free and clear advice—
Ain’t anybody a prisoner here—
It’s just the place is so darn nice!
The Moderators are fairly even-handed—
Admin extends a welcoming hand—
Heck, we might even find a place for you
In our own exclusive PB&J band!
And all you have to remember,
Is your password and sign-on name:
Then find yourself an Internet connection—
And, man, you’re in the game!
Yeah, it does get a little bit addicting—
You see we are programmed to receive—
It’s not that you can’t get out any time you like—
It’s just too darn hard to leave!!!!

WILDBERRY PIE
A parody of "American Pie" by Don McLean
Since a long, long time ago
We have all remembered
How Aurora used to make us smile
And all were lucky who got the chance
To ask Elizabeth for a dance
And maybe tango with her for a while
Unnamable's posting made us shiver
Many smileys Night would deliver
Each call for a birthday sonnet
Adil and Pen were on it
If Rachel was sad, we all would cry
If she were happy, we could fly
(Though Pensive's still up in the sky)
How does the time go by?
My, my, that sweet wildberry pie,
Love to taste 'em, never waste 'em
Or throw 'em in someone's eye
And those Merryfolk, every girl to her guy,
Singing, "May the LitNet Forums never die!"
May the LitNet Forums never die!
Let's all read the Book of Love
Or argue about that God above
"Do you believe? Yes or no?"
We can share our love of rock and roll
Unless you prefer ol' Nat King Cole?
Or do you like to play Beethoven real slow...?
If parodies are your cup of tea,
Then PB & J's who you should see
They're LitNet's resident band
We'll play on stage, on demand!!
If you're a lonely teen, or just feeling glum,
LitNet's where you'll find a chum
Just stop by Sherwood, have some fun
And a slice of our favorite pie...
Have some of
My, my, my sweet wildberry pie,
Love to taste 'em, never waste 'em
Or throw 'em in someone's eye
And those Merryfolk, every girl to her guy,
Singing, "May the LitNet Forums never die!"
May the LitNet Forums never die!
Ever since Admin's been around
Posts were made, and friends were found
And that's how it should always be
When Aimus sang for that Eva chick
A deserted island they did pick
For a romantic stroll beside the sea
And while Scher was looking down
Robin shot off her fairy crown
A more impressive war
Was never seen before
The Dastardlys under Cap'n Stan
Virgil--the Amazon's only man!
Loading cannons with shot and SPAM
But they'll all still stop for pie...
They were singin'
My, my, that sweet wildberry pie,
Love to taste 'em, never waste 'em
Or throw 'em in someone's eye
And those Merryfolk, every girl to her guy,
Singing, "May the LitNet Forums never die!"
May the LitNet Forums never die!
Here and there! Who's lost? Samer!
Has Logos come out from her lair?
Bandwidth's low and falling faaaaast
Papaya sits atop the mast
The nest is hit by a cannon blast
Stan swoops in to save his lass
Papaya wears a giant smile
As she's walking down the aisle
She'll finally say, "I do"
A marriage long overdue!
The church bells begin to ring
Wedding's on, but there's just one thing
Cap'n Stan still needs to get CLEAN!
At least the place has pie
They were singin'
My, my, that sweet wildberry pie,
Love to taste 'em, never waste 'em
Or throw 'em in someone's eye
And those Merryfolk, every girl to her guy,
Singing, "May the LitNet Forums never die!"
May the LitNet Forums never die!
And there we were, all in one place
A gathering across cyberspace
Where everybody knows your name
So come on, join the party, tell your tale
Your LitNet Crier's in the mail
Write a story, or play a game
The PB & J now takes the stage!
What happens next? Just turn the page!
We start to play our song
But it doesn't go on for long,
Because new members are all over the place
Each one with a different face
But one thing's always the case
They all just LOVE our pie
And we were singin',
My, my, that sweet wildberry pie,
Love to taste 'em, never waste 'em
Or throw 'em in someone's eye
And those Merryfolk, every girl to her guy,
Singing, "May the LitNet Forums never die!"
May the LitNet Forums never die!
I met a girl who looked like Claire
She had wings to carry her through the air
And she would smile and look my way
And I looked in my message box
To see everyone telling me, "Robin Hood ROCKS!!!" :D
So I'd have to empty that darn thing every day
And on those threads, the ladies screamed
The writers cried, and the poets dreamed
A lot of folks were jokin'
That the Forums could never be broken
And the Mods that I admire most
Banned the bad ones, so now they're toast
And the Dastardly's got it's very own ghost
Who should never say good-bye
And we were singin'
My, my, that sweet wildberry pie,
Love to taste 'em, never waste 'em
Or throw 'em in someone's eye
And those Merryfolk, every girl to her guy,
Singing, "May the LitNet Forums never die!"
May the LitNet Forums never die!
We were singin'
My, my, that sweet wildberry pie,
Love to taste 'em, never waste 'em

Nothing is wrong with things being overtly cute per se, just for a song like American Pie I dont think the speed and rythym (yeah I dont know how to spell that) suit cuteness, cuteness fits more easily with some nonsense bubblegum pop.

Parody of Tobey Keith's I Ain't As Good As I Once Was
I Ain't As Young As I Once Was
Rachel said "I've seen you in here before."
I said, "Yeah, I been here a time or two."
First things I know I'm talking to this girl called Night,
Sam, Smilingtears, Katrina over in Kosovo, Lady Liz, and Ancestor too.
Next thing you know there's RJ, Chef, and Emily, Chava, Paypaya, Scher and Jay,
And Pensy, little Shini, NNoah3, Kathycf and Miss Darcy with her touch of class—
Fortunately my wife’s not jealous of all my friends...
I tell 'em all, now girls...
I ain't as young as I once was.
My how the wheels of time spin out of control!
This Old Rouge is a romantic at heart,
Writes verses that might stir a few hearts—
But it's just the poet in my soul.
Ever you ever need a true friend—
They don't come any shade of truer blue:
I ain't as young as I once was, but ain't never been much
On this thing they call growin' up!
Me and ma amigo Robin still talk about the comic books.
And I give XC fits with my kind of philosophy.
And Virgil and I are quite a bit alike,
Kilted and I get along just fine,
And Adil is my buddy with poetry.
Shoutgrace and I can talk about faith,
Mil and me can trade a few insults and barbs,
And Aimus that wise old green frog—
Keeps knocking me off of the hill of BongityBongityBong...
But I just say now guys...
I ain't as young as I once was
Even if I can quote The Raven by heart
And there was a time, back in my prime...
But now you might want to give me a head start.
Sometimes when I write from memory,
I get a few facts mixed up— C'est la vie!
I ain't as young as I once was, but ain't never been much
On this thing they call growin' up!
Yeah, I once thought I was Death on Wheels!
I was wild in my younger days.
But sometimes as the years go by—
More than the outside of a man can change...
I ain't as young as I once was—
That there is just a cold, hard fact.
Oh, I could still talk smack, dis people back,
But I learned long ago I'm just not bulletproof.
Don't laugh at the Old Rouge now,
He could tell you a few things about what life is really all about:
I ain't as young as I once was, but ain't never been much
On this thing they call growin' up!
I ain't as young as I once was—
Dear Lord, now my kids are nearly grown up!

Who's making the musical arrangements anyway? We need Robin on the harmonica on the end of that line, and see if Miss Darcy will agree to give us a touch of class with violin on the line that mentions her. (Just ideas... I just write the songs: I just write the songs...
Hummm. Another parody Barry Manilow I Write The Songs.
This one's a little different. Hope you like it. It's for all of you, my dear friends. :)
I Write Songs
Music has been around forever—
Perhaps the moon and stars sung the very first song—
Now I am a poet; I put words and melody together—
But it's something inside of me that really writes the songs!
I write the songs that make the LitNet sing!
The songs of love and friends and special things!
Even write some words that might bring a teardrop to your eye—
I just can't help but write a song...
Well, I am glad that I have found a home among you!
A place to share the lyrics from my heart and soul!
I have found myself reflected in the chorus of your words—
Makes me feel so young even though I'm growing old!
I write the songs that make the LitNet sing!
The songs of love and friends and special things!
Even write some words that might bring a teardrop to your eye—
I just can't help but write a song...
And if my music makes you feel like dancing
Why don't you just give your heart the chance,
I didn't write the words I don't believe to be true.
Let the melody fill up your heart,
And tear all our differences apart—
The words from me, are wrote for you—
These simple words from me, I give to you...
A symphony of love...
Oh-oh yeah
I write songs......

And a new one. For Stan and Papaya
Hey, Matey!
(Parody of Jim Stafford’s Cow Patti)
Now th’ Dastardly’s Cap’n Stan, were a Pirate man,
An able-bodied uh seafarer as they come.
‘E lived by ‘is cutlass; swore by ‘is pistols,
And swilled ‘is own fair share o’ rum.
Auld Arrow were a ghost of th’ sea, frae Davey Jones’ Locker ‘e be,
Been down there nigh on two hundred year.
But ‘is powers grew great, and ‘e left that place,
And caught th’ first ship passin’ near.
Now, th’ Ghost ‘e ‘ad naught agin th’ good Cap’n Stan,
Tho’ ‘e liked nae t’sail ‘neath a Pirate Flag;
But ‘e’d ‘ad a start, when ‘e saw th’ Cap’n charts—
Frae naething good could come frae yon plague!
So th’ Ghost did what ‘e maun, t’stop Stan frae going,
T’was like conversation w’ a rock!
So Auld Arrow shed nae ghostly tears, when Stan were marooned out there,
And th’ Dastardly were overtook!
Yo-ho-ho! Hey, Matey!
Yo-ho-ho! Hey, Matey!
Dance th’ hornpipe lively now,
Each laddie bow now to yer lady!
Yo-ho-ho! Hey Matey!
Now Cap’n Stan saw red, and got frightful mad,
Tho’ Auld Arrow left a fair ship in trade—
‘E kicked th’ crew outta their bunks, aboard a Chinee Junk,
And set forth full sail after th’ Dastardly in a rage!
‘E were slick and sly, caught Cap’n Papaya’s eye,
Auld Arrow dressed fer th’ wedding to the nines.
But t’were all a trick, by Cap’n Stan the Slick
“I aims t’ reclaim wot be mine!”
Yo-ho-ho! Hey, Matey!
Yo-ho-ho! Hey, Matey!
Dance th’ hornpipe lively now,
Each laddie bow now to yer lady!
Yo-ho-ho! Hey Matey!
Auld Arrow hit the main deck, voice as cold as Death,
In a cloud o’ Ocean mist and spray.
All around thet tub, heads began to bob up;
The Dead of the Sea come calling on ol’ Stan thet day.
Th’ Cap’n says “Hee, old Ghost, I prefers, that we talks out some terms.”
Auld Arrow t’ought thet muckle fair, and agreed as well.
But these days Cap’n Stan knows, where’re ‘e goes:
A ghost watches: And a crew waits ‘neath the Ocean’s swell…
Yo-ho-ho! Hey, Matey!
Yo-ho-ho! Hey, Matey!
Dance th’ hornpipe lively now,
Each laddie bow now to yer lady!
Yo-ho-ho! Hey Matey!

And again: A Parody of The Eagle's hit: New York Minute
Midnight Minute
Auld Arrow got up
Dressed all in black,
Went back to Davey Jones’ Locker,
And he never came back.
They found his logbooks,
Sealed up tightly in an empty cask;
And he won't be out on deck, y’all,
in the morning
He once had a home
The love of his wife and little girl;
But men lose their lives sometimes
As the years unfurl.
One day he crossed some pirates,
And he was no longer in this world.
But few reckon it matters anymore!
In a Midnight Minute
Everything can change
In a Midnight Minute
Things can get pretty strange
In a Midnight Minute
Everything can change
In a Midnight Minute…
Lying alone in the darkness
He’s heard the victims wail;
Somebody going thorough torture,
Somebody's twisted taste of hell.
He couldn’t just do nothing at all,
He had to fight ‘em tooth and nail—
But the wolf is always at the door
In a Midnight Minute
Everything can change
In a Midnight Minute
Things can get a little strange
In a Midnight Minute
Everything can change
In a Midnight Minute…
And for so many weary days
When darkness would fall early;
Auld Arrow would rush above the waves,
To help the ones aboard The Dastardly.
It began to seem a fool's advice,
They could take care of their own, please!
Then one day they're here—Next day they're gone!
Arrow pulled the mist around his shoulders
As he walked down through the docks.
Couple skeletons hanged above him,
Their bones rattling in the dark.
He thought about that accursed island,
Where Old Flint had left his mark:
Left his treasure there, never came back..
What makes the mind of man so cloudy,
That their heart can never hear;
That the days were so much brighter
In the time when she was here?
I’d give every golden treasure in this world,
To the One Who Can Make these dark clouds disappear!
But, until that day, I have to believe…
I believe, I believe…
Got go back and rest…
In a Midnight Minute
Everything can change
In a Midnight Minute
You can get out of the rain
In a Midnight Minute
Everything can change
In a Midnight Minute…
And so Auld Arrow bids adieu!

Not trying to cause trouble, just laughing it off, OK? Be real cool now!
Get Over It!
(Parody of The Eagles’ smash hit Get Over It!)
Sometimes I get onto a thread, and what do I see,
A whole crowd of people who think—“The World Revolves Around Me!”
Their opinion is all that matters; got no respect for anyone else—
“If we wanted a correct answer, friend, we’d have to ask ourselves!”
Then when the moderators step in, Ouch! Hear the loud complaint—
Now I reckon it’s too late to say “You should’ve practiced more restraint!”
Get over it! Get over it!
All the whinin’, the moanin’, and pitchin’ a fit—
Get over it! Get over it!
It ain’t like the signs weren’t there, or no red flags were raised—
Somebody mentioned “Tolerance.” But you acted like the man was insane.
It was said a discussion always has two sides, the words were well rehearsed—
But they got drowned in the angry words, often citing chapter and verse.
Did you really think there was any other way this loathsome mess would end?
It may only take two to argue, how many does it take to comprehend?
Get over it! Get over it!
Gotta stop sometime, better call it quits!
Get over it! Get over it!
Kinda felt like I was on trial every time that I signed on!
Discussion is fine, but you can beat a dead horse far too long!
Yeah, yeah, yeah!
Can’t ya be a little civil, talk a little more polite?
If you think somebody’s wrong, calling names won’t make them right!
When the threads are getting locked as fast as they open, gotta be a reason, son!
Trouble is nobody thinks the problem just might be Old Number One!
Yeah, that’s right—you wanna assign some blame point that finger at yourself,
And tell me just what you have done to help somebody else! Hey yeah!
Get over it! Get over it!
Take your share of blame, now, don’t play so innocent!
Get over it! Get over it!
(Spoken)
Bout time we all moved on. Get over it!

Finally got around to doing a parody -- I'm very, extremely sorry, but it's of a Backstreet Boys song...or, if you prefer to think of it cheerfully, a Weird Al song. (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=92370687)
LITNET
A parody of "eBay" by Weird Al, a parody of "That Way" by the Backstreet Boys
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I read...Sylvia Plath
Don't have...time for a bath
Not by...the TV set
No, I'm still on LitNet
My flat...is still a mess
Icebox...is a pool of cess
Where am I?...You can bet
That I'm still on LitNet
Tell me why
I can't resist that Hyacinth :brow:
Tell my why
It's satisfying like absinthe
Tell me why
That newbie's avy is Boba Fett
Cuz there's not 'nuff Star Wars on LitNet
Each night...I log on
With just...my socks on
No way...a flatmate I'd get
Spending all my time on LitNet
I can't help
Spilling how I feel each day
I can't help
Knowing something clever to say
I can't help
Begging my mom to let
Me back on LitNet
My instinct it says that
I have to feed my cat
But I haven't got the time, -i-ime,
My plants, they look funny,
And I'm all out of money
But I can't get my sonnet to rhyyyyme!!!
The games...are so fun
I haven't...seen the sun
For weeks...for weeks...for weeks...
Am I addicted???
My mail keeps piling up
Got no bathroom, just a coffee cup
All my live friends, I haven't met
Since I got on LitNet
I don't know
Why I love to do those haikus
I don't know
When the last time was that I snoozed
Oh, now I know
Why my toes are feeling all wet
All that time in socks and on LitNet
Now I know
Why my girlfriend left me
It was cuz
I asked her questions only
It's a wonder
My eyesight hasn't gone yet
Reading every post on LitNet
I think I live on LitNe-e-e-et...

A double-feature of the Eagles!! Sorry it took so long...
CHEESECAKE TONIGHT
A parody of “Heartache Tonight” by the Eagles
Somebody’s got an appetite
For those sweet desserts
She’s gonna stuff her face all Night
Till her stomach hurts
She’s gonna have to tell somebody
To get her what she needs
Her sweet tooth is now in control
She’ll follow where it leads
She’s gonna have some cheesecake tonight
Some cheesecake tonight, I know
She’s looking for a cheesecake tonight
A cheesecake tonight, I know,
Oh no
Some places, they stay open late
Some stores can’t hold out that long
But Night couldn’t bear to go home now
Before her craving’s gone
Her hunger’s gonna last forever
Keep her from going to sleep
Unless sometime before the moon is full,
She opens up the trunk of her Jeep
And fills it up with cheesecake tonight
With cheesecake for Night, I know
She’s eatin’ lots of cheesecake tonight
Cheesecake tonight, I know
Let’s go
She’s gonna have some cheesecake tonight
Can’t have just one bite
It’s fluffy and light
If you make it right
She’s gonna have some cheesecake tonight
Some cheesecake tonight, I know
Cheesecake, baby
Somebody’s gonna be in pain
When the night is through
She’ll only have herself to blame
Nothin’ she can do
She shoulda known to slow on down
And not to eat so much
Now she’s layin’ down and holdin’ her gut
Though it’s too tender to touch
Now Nightshade’s got a tummyache tonight
A tummyache tonight, I know
She’s gonna have a tummyache all night
A tummyache all night, I know
Oh, I know
We can feed her pills and syrups
We can leave her there to moan
We can send her to the hospital
But either way, she’s gonna have a
Tummyache all night
A tummyache all night, I know
Oh, I know
It’s from all that cheesecake last night
The cheesecake last night, I know…
DEBATE TONIGHT
A parody of “Heartache Tonight” by the Eagles
Somebody’s gonna fight someone
Before the night is through
Somebody’s gonna come undone
Maybe cuz of you?
Everybody’s put in their two cents
Knowin’ that they’re right
They can’t compromise on anything
It’s always black or white
There’s gonna be a debate tonight
A debate tonight, I know
We’re gonna have a debate tonight
A debate tonight, I know
Oh, no
Some people are gonna sit up late
Some folks can’t hold out that long
But nobody wants to sleep just yet
Unless they’re proven wrong
This fight is gonna last forever
Been goin’ on for years
But sometime before the sun comes up
Somebody’s gonna be drownin’ in tears
There’s gonna be a debate tonight,
A debate tonight, I know
We’re gonna have a debate tonight
A debate tonight, I know
Let’s go
There’s gonna be a debate tonight
If you’re dim or if you’re bright
You’ll bark and then you’ll bite
It’s a heck of a fight
There’s gonna be a debate tonight,
A debate tonight, I know
A throwdown, baby
Some stubborn person’s brand new pout
Says who won and who lost
A sight more vicious than an alehouse bout
Well, now we know who’s boss
Everybody wants to have their say
For ev’ryone else to hear
Doesn’t matter if their typing’s bad
Cuz they’ve had too much beer
They’re gonna have a headache tonight
A headache tonight, I know
They’re gonna have a headache tonight,
A headache tonight, I know
Oh no
We can beat around the bushes
We can get down to the bone
We can beat a dead horse to a pulp
But either way, there’s gonna be a
Debate tonight
A debate tonight, I know
Oh, I know
There’ll be a debate tonight
A debate tonight, I know…

Yet another dose of the Eagles!!
AFTER THE THREAD IS LOCKED
A parody of “After the Thrill is Gone” by the Eagles
Same posting as there’s always been
In the places no one’s talkin’ in
Full of arguments that no one’ll ever win
After the thread is locked
It’s not cuz they’re boring, and it’s not cuz they’re old
It just means someone got a bit too bold
They keep hopin’ people will do what they’re told
After the thread is locked
After the thread is locked
What can you say when it’s the end of the day
And the padlock’s on your screen?
Just because a guy got a bit rowdy
And said something a little too mean
Time passes, and you must move on
Other subjects are bound to come along
No use prayin’ for a topic that’s gone
After the thread is locked
You’re afraid to let go, afraid to lose control
Of the first post you ever had
You’ve been posting all over the Forums for years
So you do you still feel so sad? Oh…
Same postings that there’s always been
In that old topic you keep lookin’ in
It’s on page 90, but you’re checkin’ again
Even after the thread is locked
After the thread is locked
After the thread is locked
After the thread is…
…gone.

And now, a special request for the Peter, Paul and Mary crowd.
Pen, the Magic Dragon
(Chorus
Pen, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honah Lee
Little Jackie Paper loved that rascal Pen,
and brought him strings and sealing wax and other fancy ken. Oh
(Chorus, twice)
Together they would travel on a boat with billowed sail
Jackie kept a lookout perched on Pen's gigantic tail,
Noble kings and princes would bow whene'er they came,
Pirate ships would lower their flag when Pen roared out his name. Oh
(Chorus)
A dragon lives forever but not so little boys
Painted wings and giant rings make way for other toys.
One grey night it happened, Jackie Paper came no more
And Pen that mighty dragon, he ceased his fearless roar.
His head was bent in sorrow, green scales fell like rain,
Pen no longer went to play along the cherry lane.
Without his life-long friend, Pen could not be brave,
So Pen that mighty dragon sadly slipped into his cave. Oh
(Chorus, softly)
(Chorus, loudly)

Get On-Line (Parody of Get In Line by Barenaked Ladies)
Everywhere I go someone's tryin' to mess with what left of my brain.
I'm tryin' to pretend I'm relaxed but I'm beginning to show the signs of all that strain.
I think maybe somewhere out in cyberspace,
There's some friends with whom I could really relate;
But everyone here seems to want to make an idiot out of me.
Everybody reach for your mouse!
Everybody left-click now! (Now-ow-ow-ow)
Everything will be OK,
If you get on-line.
Everywhere I go there's somebody staring holes through me like I'm not there.
The main reason I'm always at home is I'm not really welcome anywhere.
Whatever could they want from me?
Do they think that they'd last one day living like me?
I gotta go see my doctor again; this illness ain't going anywhere.
Everybody reach for your mouse!
Everybody left-click now! (Now-ow-ow-ow)
Everything will be OK,
No one gets hurt at all.
Everybody get on-line!
Everybody turn to LitNet! (Net-et-et-et)
Everything will be all right,
If you just came to talk.
I've gotta dictate a memo to myself,
In case I wake up as somebody else.
Consult contemporaries if there's some to see.
No sense in bothering everyone with ancient history...
Every time the phone rings someone thinks they have to be so condescending.
I must take three deep breaths as I really try to understand.
People say I'm looking great—
(Having not seen me, how would they know)? I try to concentrate.
Kinda looks like everyone I knew has sold out to the man
Everybody reach for your mouse!
Everybody left-click now! (Now-ow-ow-ow)
Everything will be OK,
No one gets hurt at all.
Everybody get on-line!
Everybody turn to LitNet! (Net-et-et-et)
Everything will be all right,
If you just came to talk.
Everything will be all right,
If you just came to...
Everything will be all right,
If you just came to TALK!

Parody of Margaritaville by Jimmy Buffet
Wastin' Away Again Here In Forumville (In honor of our longest running thread!)
Throwing out ideas,
Through sleepy eyelids,
Hoping that we'll find reward for our toil.
And prayin' this evenin'
People are ruled by reason,
Because this thread not pretty at all when it starts to boil!
Wastin' away again here in Forumville.
Searching for that long-lost train of thought.
If I started to lay blame, I'd never stop naming names:
But in fact: It ain't nobody's fault.
Some think the solution.
Is straight evolution.
Others think it was a Higher Power out there in the blue.
It's a question that sages,
Have pondered all down through the ages,
Somehow I think we better study again because we haven't a clue!
Wastin' away again here in Forumville.
Searching for that long-lost train of thought.
Some might even claim, that the LitNet's to blame:
But I know: It ain't nobody's fault.
We've all blown our cool now.
Got into a few rows.
Some of the ones that we loved had to move it along.
Tell me, is this whole question,
Worth so much stress and rejection?
And did it ever occur to any of us that we all could be wrong?
Wastin' away again here in Forumville.
Searching for that long-lost train of thought.
Some people claim, too much study is to blame:
But learning is fine: It ain't nobody's fault.
Yeah, I know. Could have left it alone. So it's my own fault.
wow i haven't been here in the longest time ever!!! this looks so cool!!!

His name’s Pen, and he writes us all sonnets
For our birthdays and obituaries
Some are sad, some are sweet, but they’re all really neat
Just like his Shadow mysteries
La la la, de de da
La la, de de da da da
Chorus:
Pen us a poem, you're the Dragon Man
Pen us a poem tonight
But if you’re in the mood for a parody
The LitNet band knows that you’ll do all right
Now Robin the Changeling’s a friend of his
He’s a fellow comic book nerd
Add Virgil, they’ll be the Eagles Fan Three
The Dragon, The Wolf, and the Bird
We say, "Pen, your words, they’re astounding,"
Which brings a smile to Pendragon’s face
"Promise us, please, when you’re famous
That you’ll always remember this place."
Oh, la la la, de de da
La la, de de da da da
Now Pen is one of our regulars
With a wit as sharp as a knife
But he’s never unfriendly, and a PM he’ll send thee
Just to cheer you up about life
The forums, devoid of politics
And the home of our belovéd tomes
Where we’re sharing a passion called “literature,”
And we’ll never be reading alone
Chorus
It's a pretty good crowd for a Saturday
And the Admin gives Pen a smile
'Cause he knows Pen’s the one that makes LitNet so fun
With his one-of-a-kind sense of style
And the keyboard is loud as a carnival
As Pen travels his LitNet so dear
While we read all his posts and raise him a toast
And say, "Man, are we glad you’re here!”
Oh, la la la, de de da
La la, de de da da da
Chorus

'Tis a well-deserved salute to you, brother. Your friends here could never let the smile run away from your face for long.

I know this is different from my usual songs for the band. You are welcome to believe or disbelieve as you choose. I am sort of beyond caring at this point. Life has not been kind to the old Pendragon. But I've had my moments...:)
MOMENTS
(Parody of “Moments” by Emerson Drive)
I was only seventeen and already tired of it all—
And just thinking if I were gone no one would ever miss me…
I walked all alone down a trail no one else even knew existed
And I said “Forgive me, but I’m sure you understand—
I just can’t take it anymore, a boy forced to be a man!”
And I touched that sharp blade against my wrist—
And it seemed I heard a voice that said,
“It don’t have to end like this…”
“You’ve had your moments, your days in the sun;
Moments, when you refused to give up—
Moments, when you did things you thought you couldn’t do.
How about going to work when you were only a kid?
Standing up for a friend, at a personal risk?
How about that time you saved your brother’s life when he was dying?
You haven’t always been this way, don’t you know—
You’ve had your moments…”
It was The Fourth of July back in 1994—
It seemed that everything that could go wrong was trying very hard.
Oh, the demons I’d been fighting for most of my life
Finally got a strangle hold and I almost lost my mind.
I’d been a preacher for so many years, and I couldn’t understand
Why everyone walked away and left me by myself.
If it wasn’t for my wife and kids, I’d probably be insane—
But their love is reason that I remember—
I had my moments, out on the road—
Moments—bringing one more lost sheep home,
Moments when all reason said there was no way to do the things I did!
Like the feverish baby, that burned me through my shirt,
But after prayer was said just was cool and unhurt—
I’ve seen the Power of Christ heal time after time (‘Cause He does the work…)
Looking at me now you might not ever understand it—
But I’ve had my moments…
And I know somewhere around this globe out there right now—
There’s someone reading one of my stories or poems—
Or just a friendly note—I finally reached the world somehow…
I’ve had my moments, when I wanted to cut and run—
And Moments, when I thought I was second to none—
And moments when the right words somehow just came through:
Like a sonnet, for someone’s birthday—
A memorial, when we lost a friend and we were saddened for days—
Anyone who looks at this old country boy might not ever know it:
I hide behind so many masks it’s sometimes hard to show it—
But I’ve had my moments…
Um, yeah. I’ve had my moments

Parody of My Life by Billy Joel
My Rhymes
Found an rejection letter today in my mailbox from the West Coast
“Your work is good but it not what we’re looking for today!”
Well, I had stuck the papers together with small specks of white-out you’d never notice—
And I know all they read was the cover letter anyway!
Hey, I’ve never claimed that my poetry was classic!
I’ve never even laid claim to romantic or fantastic.
What you see is what I’ve got, I just write down the rhymes—
You can make up your own mind.
Editors tell you you can’t mess around with rhythm and rhyme.
And then they tell you what you wrote might be misunderstood by somebody else.
I say leave me alone, maybe I dance to the beat of my own time—
And what I write is OK just as long as I can live with it myself!
So I don’t need someone like you to tell me that I can write!
As for these “prefab rejections”, I have a whole drawer full at home!
Who cares what you say, anyway, these are my rhymes!
How about reading them next time, before you out-box them on!
You wanna be an editor pal—here’s a tip—get a life—leave me alone!

Niiiice, Pender!!
If you're in the mood for an unjustified ego boost, though, feel free to submit to poetry.com, of course...better than nothing? Or worse than rejection?
wow!!! i mean this thing is great! i miss being around this place:( it's just school i though senoir year was easy o well here is a song i like a lot it's by Say Anything - I want to know your plans(Acoustic @ MTV.com)
I want to know your plans and how involved in them I am.
When we go to sleep for good will we be forgiven?
And If you want roses well then go buy a bouquet.
If that just won't cut it, well what can I say?
You're what keeps me believing the world's not gone dead,
Strength in my bones put words in my head.
When they pour out to paper, it's all for you.
'Cause that's what you do. What you do.
I want to know your fears, from your feet to the back of your ears.
When they raise the landing gear will your heart stay here?
If you could forgive me for being so brash,
you could hit me or whip me, Oh! I'd savor each lash.
'Cause you're what keeps me believing the world's not gone dead,
Strength in my bones put the words in my head.
When they pour out to paper.
It's all for you. 'Cause that's what you do.
No more fighting.
This is only a waste of our time 'cause soon we'll be leaving.
Will this strength still be mine?
I'll look out for you 'til I die, 'til I rot. Oh!
I'll remember you 'til I die, until I rot.
You're what keeps me believing the world's not gone dead,
Strength in my bones put the words in my head.
When they pour out to paper.
It's all for you.
'Cause you're what keeps me believing the world's not gone dead,
Strength in my bones put the words in my head.
When they pour out to paper.
It's all for you. 'Cause that's what you do.
That's what you, that's what you do.
