who accually had fun reading this book????
in my 8th grade english class we read this book and each day b4 we read we sang Beasts of England, and just today we had a SPONTANIOUS DEMONSTRATION where we made signs and in the middle of class marched around chanting, FOUR LEGS GOOD, TWO LEGS BAD, and it got us in the mood and the spirit of animalism.
sadly some teachers in my school have a problem with this and think it is just a waste of time and that all we should do is read the book. but to me this really added alot.
if anyone has any comments please post i would <3 to hear your opinion.
lots of love

I don't know what kind of teachers you have at your school, but they sound quite hardline and jaded. In order to assauge their fears that you are wasting valuable class time, you and your fellow classmates may like to demonstrate to them how much the book has actually taught you. Here is my suggestion:
Begin by holding secret meetings at lunch time and preach "studentism" until you have gained enough supporters. Then, without warning, raid the staffrooms and force the teachers into, say, a janitors closet. Then proceed to reorganize the school assigning everyone a job to which they are most suited, and instigate 7 commandments promoting fair treatment for all. The point of your revolution could be to aviod the trappings into which Napoleon fell, hence proving that communisim can work (because as yet, the theory remains unproven), or you could simply reenact the series of events which transpired in the novel, thus proving to the teachers that you were paying attention. (If you decide on the latter, making sure that you are one of the 'pigs' is faily essential, and you stand to make some money.)
Not only would this be terribly fun, but you will earn top marks from your more liberal teachers should you choose to submit a report after the event. Also, it would equally serve to suitably belittle the teachers who once frowned upon your youthful enthusiasim.
TEACHERS BAD! STUDENTS GOOD!
Let me know how you fare comrade. Lol!

I actually enjoyed the book to a point that I read it twice. I was being quizzed on the book as well as had to submit an essay on it. Granted I didn't do it in HS, since I was homeschooled-we covered other books. I would say it was one of those books that apealed to both my political and literary tastes so much I had to catch everything I missed the first time I read it.
Now I wouldn't read it a 3rd time though...

I cannot say I had fun reading this book, but I did like it very much.
Hope, I think the way your teacher made you chant and sing in class is fantastic. If only, I had such a great teacher too...
Miss Smilla, your plan sounds great!
