Hi people! Iīve just finished The Time Travelerīs Wife, from Audrey Niffenegger. I loved it! :thumbs_up
It happens that I saw a post in "What are you reading?" thread, someone read it and quoted the first sentence; it interested me, because I read every book and see every movie that deals with time-traveling. Thought it was some kind of time-machine pilot, but no... the idea of the story is original (how and why someone time-travels), the way she tells it is a very good choice, and the book made me cry... (I donīt want to give spoilers here, but if someone who read the book wants to discuss it, letīs go...)
Has anyone read the book? Any comments?

I haven't read it, but I did learn that Gus Van Sant is making a film out of it. I'll probably read the book after the film...that's my usual trick.

I read the book a few months ago and loved it! It made me cry too! I fell in love with Henry, he is such an original character. I will most definetely see the movie when it comes out, I hope it's good!

I'm sceptical about the film. I adored the book and I don't think that any film could live up to how I imagined it.

Iīve heard about the film too... Sure Iīll see it when it comes, but (as I always end up thinking..) the book ends up as better than the movie (with some rare exceptions in which the movie equals the book).
I was just reading the thread about different styles of writing from men/women (in Philosophical Literature) and found it very interesting...

...And thought that this book is written by a woman, but has some aspects of "men writing". I think she can write with the sensibility of both genders, given the very good way she turns from a male perspective/narration to the female one.
About the characters... I liked both, Henry and Clare, very much. Very well-constructed, and the narration with different dates, but following a cronological path... very creative. ;)

This book is one of favourites. When I finished it, I restarted it the very next day. Trying to get my friends to read it was hard at first. Telling my sci/fi fan friends no-no, it's not really just a love story; and getting my romance fan friends to understand it wasn't just another "stephen king" story. The ones who finally read it LOVED it.
my mom read the book and absolutely loved it . . now i'm just waiting until she finishes it again to steal it myself! : )

Oh, people, Iīm glad you liked the book... itīs good to see other people enjoyed a book you loved. One thing I lked about it is that, if a time travel was possible, and the way the author explains it, the body would be the only one who "left", different from other stories in which there is a "time-traveling device"... Good trick, no?
