Hi, Im currently in grade 10 and i have to write an essay from two of these topics..
1) Friar Laurence serves many dramatic purposes in the play. Examine the Friar and his role in Romeo and Juliet
2) Examine the role of women in Romeo and Juliet
3) Juliet's suitor Paris is compared throughout the play to Romeo. Examine carefully the similarities and differences between the two young men who love Juliet
4) Apart from clashing with Tybalkt, what role does Mercutio play in the story? Is he merely a colorful supporting character and brilliant source of comic relief, or does he serve a more serious purpose?
5) Discuss the nature of love as Shakespeare portrays it in the play. Consider the views of Romeo, Juliet, the Nurse, Capulet, Lady Capulet, Mercutio, and Friar Laurence.
From any of these topics, which one do you recommend that i do?
Also, I would really appreciate it if you told me what the thesis statement would be and what 3 topic sentences that defends the thesis.
