Can anyone identify the author of this poem? (Anonymous, as far as I know, but not too old to be claimed by the rightful creator.)

Mau-Mau an emu loved Mimi
Said “Mimi please come here and see me.”
But Mimi stepped onto Route 80
Thus ending the life of his matey.*

(*An emu named Mimi died on I-80 in New Jersey on 16 Apr 2003. Her male friend Mau-Mau died six months later, apparently of a broken heart. The April tragedy occurred when someone – possibly a mischievous child -- opened their pen and the birds wandered away. Mau-Mau was captured and returned home. But Mimi ran onto eastbound Route 80 and was killed. See: http://sierraactivist.org/print.php?sid=35766
Note: the genus emu is peculiar to the continent Australia per OED2, and thus “matey” is an appropriate signification of a significant other in the poem. Would Mimi have met a better fate if she had attempted the westbound Route 80, headed towards California?)
