The end of smiles

It was
May, June, July -
Choose one – it doesn’t matter, after all.

People milling
Far, near, all about
I looked, and saw bodies, but no souls.

A child cried –
Shrill, afraid, alone
And nobody moved, nobody heard, nobody cared.

My silent tears
Fell unseen, unmourned, unknown;
And I fell with them
At the end of smiles.

see what happens when you read 1984 too much? :p anyways, anybody have any comments . . . ? i'm pretty bad at poems where each line is a certain length compared to the others in the stanza, but it's still fun.
