So I was listening to Regina Spektor's new album, and there's this song called "Après Moi" which has a verse in Russian. I know there are a couple of Russian speakers here, so... is anyone able to translate or just give me the gist of it? I found this by googling and have no idea if whoever wrote it down actually speaks Russian, but... Thanks in advance!

I must go on standing,
You can't break that which isn't yours
I must go on standing
I'm not my own, It's not my choice

Be afraid of the lame, they'll inherit your legs
Be afraid of the old, they'll inherit your souls
Be afraid of the cold, they'll inherit your blood
Après moi le deluge: after me comes the flood

Fevrale dostat chernil i plakat,
Pisat O Fevrale navsnryd,
Poka grohochushaya slyakot
Vesnoyu charnoyu gorit

Be afraid of the lame, they'll inherit your legs
Be afraid of the old, they'll inherit your souls
Be afraid of the cold, they'll inherit your blood
Après moi le deluge: after me - the flood

I could not translate much of what you posted, then found it in Russian. Stanza from a poem by Pasternak.

Февраль. Достать чернил и плакать!
Писать о феврале навзрыд,
Пока грохочущая слякоть
Весною черною горит.

February, pick up your pen and weep,
Write poems about february in sobs and ink,
While thunder booming in the background
Is burning in the black of spring

Oooh I wish I had seen this before, I love to translate from Russian! :D

But since it's Pasternak, it's good that someone found a good version of it

The song looks interesting, but I've never heard of this artist. I might research a bit..

You could do a lot worse - I think she's one of the best songwriters out there at the moment. Plus, she often works literary allusions into her lyrics. The newest CD isn't out yet, but her previous - "Soviet Kitsch" - is very highly recommended. Someone described her as "Tori Amos for people who actually like music"... :D
