This is probably not the one you are referring to, but let's get it started.

Sugar and Spice
by C. J. Stevens

Thinking of the sugar
and spice ingredients
of girls that frosted the Bible-
school lawn, and watching
the hired girl through the cat's
pupil in the Christian
door - I remember how
one Sunday's coaxing got
a cousin of mine behind
the woodshed. The fumbling
I have long since forgotten,
but even to this day
I can remember the sphinx-
like expression on
my mother's face, and how
she whipped us with a stick
that didn't stop trembling
until it broke to pieces
in her beautiful hands.

Well, let's post the original nursery rhyme:

What Are Little Girls Made of?

What are little boys made of?
What are little boys made of?
Frogs and snails,
And puppy-dogs' tails;
That's what little boys are made of.

What are little girls made of?
What are little girls made of?
Sugar and spice,
and all that's nice;
That's what little girls are made of.
