In order to do this, I forego sleeping. I have gone a day or more without reference to a computer some weeks. The reason I have taken to late night activity at times has been due to working then spending time caring for a little one [not my own] with the earlier hours of the day.

You do mean "decent risque" I hope. I don't think this a particular German thing (eh, Sleepy?), but I normally do it that way, and have been doing so for as long as I can remember :D. When I do it in handwriting, I tend to place the slash a little further down, not directly on the same level as the number or letter of enumeration. It looks very neat in handwriting, which is how I like it :D.

The first day of the semester, when I came out of lecture hall here in Heidelberg, they asked me questions about the elite university programme (where my univ pretty much failed :D), and about university in Germany in general. The reporter was of course American and couldn't believe that it is "custom" here that 30-50 people have to spend the lectures on the floor due to a lack of sufficiently sized lecture halls :D.
The article appeared a few days after the interview, but sadly they've moved it to the archives by now, so that you would have to pay to access the online version :(.

4. He likes turnips (that is some new information for everyone)
5. He is a beautiful person, despite all of the above. :p

Okay, after going through this thread after quite a long time, maybe I have got something to say about somebody.

Yeah, Five Things I Know About Myself When I was Thirteen (:D):
1. Had terribly bad English language skills (wouldn't claim to have improved much in the last few years, but I guess I have improved enough to point at the many dire mistakes I made in this very thread! Ouch! Man this is embarrassing).
2. Tended to compliment people quite a lot
3. Wanted to be a doctor (ah, sweet childhood dreams you dream when yet you haven't taken Biology in Highschool :D).
4. The scariest of dreams used to revolve around math :lol:
5. Was kind of cute, less evil :p
