Ever since we are sharing our tastes in reading, music and games. I was thinking that we can also share something interesting, funny or something that we want to share with the others about some people that is special for us. Like writers, singers or bands.

Marc Anthony is a singer whose parents are from Puerto Rico, his real name is Marco Antonio Muņiz he was name after a Mexican Singer to whom his father was fan.

Fight for Fighting The leader of the band John Ondrasik picked the name for his band refers to a form of discipline used in the turbulent sport of hockey. Players who fight during the game are sent storming away to cool down for five minutes in a penalty box. In other words, they get five for fighting.

I hope to see you here ;)

Iron Maiden

Iron Maiden is a hugely succesful band from the United Kingdom. Originally formed in 1975 by Steve Harris. The Soundhouse tapes, now a famous collectors item, was a recording that secured Iron Maiden a record deal with EMI. In 1980 the band released their first album, and it was a huge succes.

After two albums, Bruce Dickinson Joined the band as singer, and this is when things started to go fast. Best selling albums like 'The Number of The Beast and Powerslave put Iron Maiden on the map as a Heavy Metal giant. This sucees continued trough the 80s.

The 90s saw Bruce leave the band to persue a solo carreer, and with his departure, together with personal problems for Bassist and founder Steve Harris, saw the band in somewhat of a creative slump. New singer Blaze Bayley was considered by fans to not fit with the band. He was a singer with a limited range, while Bruce Dickinson was known for his wide vocal range.

In 1999 Bruce, together with guitarist Adrian Smith rejoined the band and in 2000 they released the album 'Brave New World' This album was a return to form, with the powerful vocals of Bruce once again at the front. This new found form was continued in 2003, with the album 'Dance of Death' and on the tour that followed Iron Maiden proved themselves to still be the best live band in the world, with a full stage production, energetic and thundering performance. In 2005 the band released 'The Early Days' a recap of their early years and the tour that followed featured only songs from their first three albums. This year Iron Maiden is set to release a new album, and will go on a new tour.

The Current Band members are:
Bruce Dickinson - Vocalist
Steve Harris - Bassist
Dave Murray - Lead and Rythm Guitar
Jannick Gers - Lead and Rythm Guitar
Adrian Smith - Lead and Rythm Guitar
Nicko McBrain - Drummer

This was a brief history of Iron Maiden. The greatest band in the world!

man you never stop tormenting me, bringing up Iron Maiden all over this forum!
I think it is interesting about J.C. Fogerty(creedence clear water) that he had a serious bout with depression and substance abuse and completely credits his comeback and better work to his wife who he said 'saved my life"

And don't forget that Bruce Dickenson was a fencer and looks way better in short hair.

Green Arrow I, also known as Oliver Queen, is a powerful but underrated superhero. Originally a Batman clone in the comics (come on...the "Arrowcave"?), Ollie was the first non-charter member of the Justice League and survived the times mostly as a second stringer along with Aquaman. Along with his young ward Speedy I/Roy Harper, Green Arrow fought crime with such gadgets as Grappling Hook Arrows, Punching Glove Arrows, Glue Arrows, etc. in his arsenal, paralleling many of Batman's similar doodads.

In the Silver Age of Comics (the 1960s, specifically), Green Arrow was completely revamped as a character. He lost his fortune, gained a slick looking beard, and received a bona fide personality to distinguish him from Batman, becoming something of a liberal crusader for the "little man." Chief among his famous comic book issues are those in which he travels with Hal Jordan/Green Lantern across the country on a road trip to fight crime and help the people. Green Arrow is definitely one of the more socially conscious of superheroes, with a void in his heart and a point in his quiver reserved especially for corruption and moral apathy.

In yet another famous issue, Green Arrow's young ward, Speedy, ended up with a heroin addiction for which Green Arrow blamed himself as a poor mentor and father figure. Speedy overcame his addiction with the help of Black Canary and Green Lantern, and emerged a powerful superhero in his own right: Arsenal.

Ironically, Ollie isn't without moral slip-ups. Something of a womanizer, he frustrates his long-time lover/significant other Black Canary II/Dinah Lance with his occasional walkabouts. He has fathered an illegitimate son, Connor Hawke/Green Arrow II, who took his place in the Justice League following Ollie's death. He also once inadvertently a criminal, which weighed heavily on his conscience. He sequestered himself in a monastery to repent and returned to the superhero scene, humbled. During this period, he also switched from the old trick arrows to standard razor arrows, giving him an edgier and less clownish feel.

Will post more about Green Arrow's death and return later...

I dunno about the looks, never paid attention to it. He is a great Fender, Pilot, Radio Host, Train Enthusiast etc. Nicko is an avid golfer, H(Adrian Smith likes fishing, and so on and on. I am starting to sound like a fanatic fanboy now, and I was so trying to keep it brief and about the music. :p

Oh, and Steve Harris daughter is a looker who is starting a music career of her own. Not my type of music, a bit like Britney Spears music, only heavier and a better voice. She doesn't seem like a dumb blond either. Something ms. Spears seems to be an expert at.

Iron Maiden is great, I can't help bring them up Rachel, I'm so excited at seeing them this fall, but I still have to wait so long, the concert isn't untill the 27th of November. :( Atleast there will be plenty of other concerts and festivals in between. :D

For all the fans of Dickinson - Cristopher Walken made a great parody on him in Saturday night live, in a sketch were Dickinson coaches Blue Oyster Cult on how to do the song "Donīt fear the reaper" . It is a classic. He makes a great copy of the way Dickinson speaks. And the line "I got a fever and the only prescription is more cowbells" makes me laguh out loud every time.

Actually, Isagel, that's not the same Bruce Dickinson. There are two Bruce Dickinsons in rock'n'roll, the singer and the sound engineer. (For starters, the singer BD was 18 when "Don't Fear The Reaper" was recorded.)

It's a great skit though. Those of you who haven't seen it can check it out here (http://www.ifilm.com/ifilmdetail/2687249?htv=12). And Christopher Walken is the second coolest man in cinema history.

Aha! The mystery is revealed! I wonder which Bruce D I have a recording of, when he discusses music...( a friend sent it along with the sketch) I always thought it was the Iron Maiden one. I must be mistaken there.
