The Observer calls it 'a spirited update of Bram Stokers classic. If naught else, it could serve as an inspiration. I have only read about 100 of the ~700 pages, but so far it seems very good, and it's obvious that Kostova has done a fair bit of research on the real Dracula: Vlad Tepes.
