What kind of neighbours do you have? Are they friendly? Do they care about you or are they busy in themselves? Do you hardly see each other?

I have noticed that in many places, neighbours are very cold towards each other. I mean that even a person does not know sometimes that who is living next door. In other cases, some neighbours are like friends. What about you guys? Do you share your happiness and sorrows with your neighbours?

Are you satisfied with the attitude of your neighbours? If you are not satisfied with it, then what is the reason? What kind of neighbours do you wish for or do you think that neighbours do not matter at all?

My neighbours are a couple and they are quite nice except when they practice feng shui around 4 am.
But they cook wonderful asian meals!

They arrange the objects in their house to maximise luck, wealth and happiness at 4am? That's a bit extreme.

Are you sure that you meant feng shui? Tai Chi maybe?

I have been in my flat for a year and have never talked to a neighbour. I rarely even see one. I can hear their music and other noises that they make though.

I used to have nice neighbours. We went golfing together. I miss my old neighbours *sign*

Hmm the apartment I moved into, our neighbors were cocain -derrogatory prostitution term- addicts and starting stabbed eachother in the middle of the night. I think that pretty much convinced my roomate and I to ducktape all our windows shut since we don't have screens or anything. Fortunately they were evicted though and now a guy with a motorcycle lives there. But we've never seen him, just his vehicle. We have had much nicer neighbors in our basement last year, the people upstairs ran an east indian catering business and would give us leftover food.

I would have a lot to say about neighbours; and I suspect they would have a lot to say about me too. I have lived near to gipsies, mentally disturbed people, lovely spanish elder people, furtive hunters and so on. I the meantime, my neighbours are bored people. I will talk about a couple of them. They are cousins and they are married and have two children -whose grandmothers are sisters- that are brothers and cousins at the same time... they make me think about the Buendìa family. Nobody there speaks in a low tone and therefore I know much about them even if I don't want to. Dog is noisy too. In the midnight they scream each other and I sometimes wish to call their number and say, "stop, woman, your cousin is right, please discuse it in the morning..."
but I like them after all. They are young and inocent people, and full of good intentions... the mother said some time ago to her elder child: "stop following me! You're always listening to the elder people`s conversation!" I said I don't follow you anyway and I am always doing it...
She sings dreadfully, but me too, and I listen Goran Bregovic's music. I fight them with that.

I make it a general rule to attempt to avoid my neighbours. If I dont talk them there is far less chance they would ask me to do anything - Mind you if they did know me they would realise I am comletely incompetent and I would escape that way as well.

** To avoid confusion of what I mean: I think the correct word is incompetent ie incable. However I know there is a similar word which has something to do with bed-wetting. I do not mean this.

My neighbours on one side are nice enough, but that's it, we just say hi and maybe chat a little, on the right live the strangest folk I know. I try to ignore them, but it is difficult if they are as loud as they are. Especially their child, which seems to cry without end, and if it isn't crying it is laughing really loud.

G.K. Chesterton said that the bible says we should love our enemies. He said that is probably our neighbors.
I live in a snobby condo complex at the base of a small mountain called ....
at any rate upstairs to the right is a lawyer's secretary, we are good friends. across from her is a hair beautician, she is nice, her oldest nephew who she is guardian of is twenty and he is despised here for his inconsiderate loud mega loud behaviour. but I still love him.when I go upstairs at three a.m and haven't slept yet because of him and his homey g's and tell them to shut up they laugh so hard and usually invite me in...grr so I give up.There are professors, one a woman from Poland is a dear friend and a physicist. Oh tons of them and most of them hate one another. I get along pretty well with them all but that puts me in the middle so I try to stay by myself....sigh....

I have tons of neighbours as I live in a block of flats (aparment complex for Americans I guess?) and some I barely know... but the ones I hate most are the ones who moved in a couple of years ago and are exactly downstairs from me. They are a couple in their 40s and they are two morons... Since they came there were a lot of problems in the administration of the whole place as they want to have their own rules and make others live by their rules... so why didn't they move to a single house
They complain about a lot of things and then watch tv out loud till 1am when I'm trying to sleep, or make lots of noise... so when I drop something, instead of feeling guilty as I used to with the old neighbours, I pick it up and drop it once again just to be more noisy :D

If you actually own the apartment like most of my family in Italy do, then we call them condominiums in the U.S. Otherwise they are aprtments.

Eh? So it depends on whether you own it or not? Strange...
By the way the Italian word is "condominio"...does it mean I'm struggling for words when I might as well use mine? ;););)
