Girl with a Pearl Earring - Please help me!

I have an exam on "Girl with a Pearl Earring" by Tracy Chevalier in 2 days! I know the story fairly well but I need to know what happens to Frans because I haven't got that far yet! I'd be really really grateful for anything you can tell me bout this book but particularly about Frans! Thank you!

Have people really enjoyed this book? I quit half way through because it just wasn't capturing my attention. I liked the historical link to the artist, but it just wasn't doing it for me. Thoughts from those who did enjoy it?? Should I read it through? Is it worth it?

I did like this book (however I don't remember what happened to Frans). I especially loved the artist side to it. In fact I preffered the passages speaking about the paintings and artistic views more than the plot!
