I have just finished reading Dostojevskis The Idiot. I would be thankfull if anyone could help me find what is characteristic for the realism in The idiot.

Sorry for the bad English!

Tell us what you think. If this is for an assignment, I'm sure that your teacher wants to know your opinions and not anyone else's.

Well I have my own oppinions but I need facts too :). Seriously, I know one thing and that is that Dostojevski does not describe Myskjin and all the other people looks, instead we get to know more about their personality. But I need a little more, and I hope you can help me.

Facts? There are no facts unless you can ask Dostoevsky himself - which is a little hard. Of course he describes personality, Dostoevsky is an absolute master of that, in all of his books. There are few writers that have ever looked into the human psyche as far as Dostoevsky's gaze reached.

Personally, I think that you don't want 'facts' but 'quotes' and I also think that rereading the book with that in mind, you should be able to find plenty. You have read the book, haven't you? You can probably think of plenty right now. Let us know which ones you think characterise realism, and anyone here will be happy to let you know if we agree.

If, and I'm sure this is not the case, you haven't actually read the book, and are looking for someone to do your homework for you, than all I can say is
