wow this is wonderful. I am taking all of your images on my trusty camcorder and the guys that are still awake are laughing hilariously as Jackyyy tells his tale and bounces pine cones off his knobbly knees at the same time.
Oh I love daffodils thank you Riesa, here try one of my rather spicey burritos dear and here's a genuine Canadian beer and a hug for you.
Okay so we don't get thrown out here is something interesting about all of you. YOu are all able to be children for a little and believe me in this world that is rare and unusual
Thank you Scher, that picture reminds me of a lot of guys still hiding in the bushes in Nelson because they don't know there was amnesty toward draft dodgers. smokin, tokin and laughin they be still up in those hills.ever met any of them Jackyyy?
Chmpman I am so thrilled you are here. pizza?

hmmm, I dont think I will get peace until I enter something here :p . However my childhood is quite boring & I dont remember much before I was 8.....so I'll just leave a song that was taught to me by my granny (a quite incredible woman: beaten cancer 3 times; been a widow for 37 years; turns 90 this year & is still sharp as a tack)

Jist a wee doch n' doris
Jist a wee dram thats a'
Jist a wee doch n' doris
Afore ye gang awa'

Jist a wee wifie waitin'
At the wee but n' ben
If ye can say its a "braw, bricht
moonlicht, nicht. the nicht"
Then yer aw' richt ye ken

I have a little childhood story, it is absolutely true:

When I was 5, my "school" was trying to improve level of hygiene. So one day the teacher told us to ask our parents for rubber slippers to bring with us to school the next day, because the new rule was that we would not be allowed to go into the bathroom without them.

I forgot to tell my parents. I stayed away from the bathroom for most of the day. But as the afternoon was ending, I really needed to "p". I was too scared to break the rules, and too shy to borrow slippers from someone else. So I went outside to the balcony, which was far away from the classroom, and ...! The principle just happened to walk by beneath me, and I p'd on her head!

My mom was called into school and she had to talk to the principle for an hour, I'm still unsure what about. I just remember sitting nervously in the corner and watching them talk and laugh. But I wasn't punished, and I was quite happy - the end.

PS. I would be embarassed but my mom has told pretty much everyone I know this story, so no harm done here.

How about I sing a Neopalitan folk song that has been playing in my house since I was born. My father would always sing it. Now I must tell you there are two typs of Italian men in the world: those that can sing and those that think they can sing. My father was in the latter catagory. Now in reality, I can't hold a tune to save my life. But this is virtual reality where I can now sing as well as Luciano Pavarotti. So here goes:

O Sole Mio

Che bella cosa na jurnata 'e sole,
n'aria serena doppo na tempesta!
Pe' ll'aria fresca pare gia' na festa
Che bella cosa na jurnata 'e sole.

Ma n'atu sole
cchiu' bello, oi ne'.
'O sole mio
sta 'nfronte a te!
'O sole, 'o sole mio
sta 'nfronte a te,
sta 'nfronte a te!

Quanno fa notte e 'o sole se ne scenne,
me vene quase 'na malincunia;
sotto 'a fenesta toia restarria
quanno fa notte e 'o sole se ne scenne.

Ma n'atu sole
cchiu' bello, oi ne'.
'O sole mio
sta 'nfronte a te!

I always think of my father when I hear that. I hoped you liked it, and I hope you don't criticize my singing like my wife does.

yay V I R G I L (no more of that) is here. yes the party started about nine this morning my time. And already Robin and Elizabethe were here setting up .She is gone to bed now and others beside her but they don't mind our carrying on. this party will be on til tomorrow so it can include everyone.
Kilted how wonderful, I know that song so well me own Grannah Mathews sang it to me when I was a wee bairn. sighs, wipes eyes.
And always in the Ialian district and the Giovanni household next door they sang or played loud , real loud O sole mio and I loved it so.
Nguyen, that is so horrible and funny. I was petrified of principles my whole life, I mean I am afraid of Admin and he's younger than me. I don't know how I would have coped with that. but theylaughed, that is wonderful.

Jackyyy how right you are .They ARE all in politics. And Virg where is a baseball story or two from your school reader. Don't all American primary books have a story here and there of baseball?
Now please help yourselves to all that you want and go outside for a walk up the mountain side. The moon is full and enough stars are out and you can use my camcorder with the night attachment. everything looks fabulous.
milkshakes anyone or how about real gelatto, I bought some for you Virgil.

hey Ryduce where is your little kid story eh? I am sure you have had your share of funny experiences.
ONce when I was little the man who raised me told me and his son my little brother Nelson to wait at this by pass , I think in California, while he checked something down the road. why we had to get out of the car I will never know. So there we stood and no way could we move from that spot or be killed and time went on and on and on. Finally he came charging up the highway, stopped and picked us up. It seems he got busy and forgot us. sheesh, parents!

Was that Bristol? Geepers, they sure scared the heck out of us didn't they. I'm sure the Principal was laughing at the rule, and the rest of the class was equally bent up all day, turning various colours. I went through something like that at school too, had to find a bush, when a Principal's head would have been easier.

Cant go walking up a mountain side without singing
Wild Mountain Thyme

Oh, the summertime is comin'
And the trees are sweetly bloomin'
And the wild mountain thyme
Grows around the purple heather
Will you go? Lassie, will you go?

And we'll all go together
To pick wild mountain thyme
All around the purple heather
Will you go? Lassie, will you go?

I will build my love a tower
By yon pure and crystal fountain
Yes and on it I will lay
All the flowers of the mountain
Will you go? Lassie, will ya go?

And we will all go together
To pick wild mountain thyme
All around the purple heather
Will you go? Lassie, will you go?

If my true love won't come with me
Then I would surely find another
To pick wild mountain thyme
All around the purple heather
Will you go? Lassie, will ya go?

And we will all go together

All around the purple heather

Oh I'll take the gelatto.

Ok, here's a baseball story that says something about me. I've lived in New York City since three years old, and you would think that being a baseball fan I would be either a New York Yankees fan or a New York Mets fan. Well, my nature is to go against the grain, if you haven't noticed. Even at eight years old I just couldn't like the same team that all the other kids liked. I had to be different. I got hooked on the Baltimore Orioles, a small city team who always seem to play above the amount that they could afford to pay, at least when I was growing up. They had great ball players: Brooks Robinson, Frank Robinson, Jim Palmer, etc, players who were not showing but gritty and played their hearts out. Their manager was a feiry, fisty little guy named Earl Weaver, who would just explode with anger and emotion when something went against him. He was famous for arguing with the umpires. He would run out of the dugout, stick his face up against the umpires face and scream until he was red in the face. And when the umpire would yell back, Weaver would start bobbing his head so that the bill of his cap would poke the umpire in the face. At that pont you knew Weaver was getting ejected out of the game. And then later there was a great ball player who I idolized, Eddie Murray, a quiet strong guy, an ironman type. He didn't say much, just let his play say it all. They last won the world series in 1983, and I've now been struggling with their losing seasons for 25 years now. Good God! I refuse to change loyaties. Balitimore is a four hour drive and I will go and catch a game in person once year or so. I refuse to go to New York games. I can't stand them.

oh Kilted, the words of that song evoke Scotland's wild beauty and the beauty of the lasses so much. what girl wouldn't go with words like that. reminds me of cyrano's words to Roxaanne, beautiful. thank you.

Virg did you see twelve angry men? there is a scene when juror #7 is antsy because he has got a ticket to the baseball game in his pocket and just wants a quick verdict. He talks to juror #5 and asks him who his team is and he says "Baltimore." Baltimore! the guy shouts incredulous. who have they got? after that he just calls the guy Baltimore in a derisive manner. He was die hard just like you. wonderful

I was a Sacramento King's fan for one season. I could never understand why my dad would sit in front of the TV yelling, or how his mood would be affected by the outcome of a game for days, until that year. I had just moved back to California and was living with my parents for a few months while my house was getting renovated, and at first when they would turn on the King's game, I'd leave, shut myself in my room, try to read, roll my eyes at the commotion. Well, you all know if you can't beat them join them, so I started watching, got hooked, felt the elation that comes with a well made play, and the bitter resentment towards the poor players when they'd screw it up.."he's paid how much to play like that!!" That season, they did very well, played with heart, played as a team, it was beautiful to see. The Laker's. So much competition, they had Kobe and Shaq, and Robert Horry. The King's played well, but were beaten in Game 7 by Robert Horry's three pointer at the BUZZER. I felt like I was going to puke, cry, throw a tantrum, laugh insanely...the entire Sacramento area was like a wake for the next month. It was awful, and now I could care less about being a fan, it hurts so much to watch them lose. Even now, when my team should be The Spurs, who win continuously, it's like something died in me that day, and I just don't care anymore.

Mama Rachel, sing me a lullaby.

Hey kilted can ye do a heeland dance? I can, the dance of the swords, real swords too not fake ones.

Hi Rachel and everyone, Thanks for arranging such a nice party. I love it!

When I was 4 or five years old, my brother had a religious teacher who used to teach him Holy Quran. We call our religious teachers "Maulvi Sahab"

"Maulvi Sahab" are very much respected in our society and it is like a sin to say something funny or to make fun of them. Their greatest possession is their "hat" which is called "Pagri"

When he was teaching my brother, I was looking by the window, something came into my mind. I opened the door and ran towards Maluvi Sahab. I took the sweeping stick and with the help of the stick, I took the special hat (Pagri) off from Maulvi Sahab's head.

Maulvi Sahab kept on shouting but I ran back inside. I can remember his words and they were: "When I will teach you, you naughty girl, I will mend you with sticks"

And another time, I got angry at my brother and cut his hairs with a scissor. I did not know about it but my mother told me this thing recently.

Well, as a boy just as I am now, I always was lost somewhere in the world of books. I made my own homemade bow and arrows and played Robin Hood, (sorry, Robin, but he was one of my favorite characters, and I believe I have senority! ), and a quaterstaff cut from the neighbor's tree. My brother and I played King Arthur and his knights with wooden swords, and The Three Musketeers with raipers made from broken fishing rods. An old kerosene lantern became Alladin's lamp, and I nearly broke my neck jumping off the roof with a towel tied around my shoulders playing Superman! We rode makeshift rafts down the river, almost getting drowned, since we really couldn't swim all that well. We hilked into the hills for overnight trips, exploring caves and things, which I turned into Quartermain adventures. I played detective as Holmes, Doc Savage, The Shadow, and the Hardy Boys (with younger brother Allen as Joe). It's a wonder we survived. Oh, but it was fun! Eating fresh-caught fish around a campfire, telling ghost stories, batting it down the mountain with the whole tent in a thunderstorm because of said ghost stories...

Never loose your memories. I have brought mine to the party for you. Some of you have yet to reach my age, but when you do, the memories will be a warm glow you'll aways have! Pour the punch, Rachel, and may we drink a toast-- to memory: the place where our dreams live and sometimes grow a little... ;) http://www.cosgan.de/images/smilie/froehlich/a065.gif

well the party will end in ten more hours, so I hope all that want to come will hurry and share and join in.
And as to being young I have never met in my life a person like Whiffling who is as ancient as the world and as young as a child playing marbles in the shade of a mighty oak and racking up the bounty from other pouting children.
that was beautiful

And for you Riesa, a lullaby that you probably know from the Wiggles
the last part goes,
hands in the air rockabye your bairn,
bairn's now asleep shh shh shh
bairn's now a sleep.

last night in real time we watched Wiggles, the full length movie about Wally the very bad magician that so wanted to win the competition and the magic wand that had belonged to his grandpapa. Plus it was Dorothy the dinosaurs birthday and the wiggles and the children from a private school were joining Captain Featherstone the Pyrate and his pyratey dancers to have a surprise party for Dorothy. Everything that can go wrong does but it ends beautifully. When all the songs came on Hasia and I danced on the trampoline, I teach her choreography she is no younger than the children I taught, and we do it on trampoline. so much fun
Oh my GOODNESS Pensive how much your personality is like Hasia. Yesterday she threw her drink at the guys ran like crazy with those little legs, stopped only long enough to dip her toothbrush in the dishwater full of suds, defiantely brush her teeth and she ran and before I could stop her she had dumped all her books onto the floor and I had just made everything perfect for the party. for it had to be perfect even if you didn't see it.

For all the "little rascals" out there, here is the excuse my brother and I liked most as children:

I know a funy little man,
As quiet as a mouse,
Who does the mischeif that is done
In everybody's house!
There's no one ever sees his face,
And yet we all agree
That every plate we break was cracked
By Mr. Nobody.

'Tis he who always tears out books,
Who leaaves the door ajar,
He pulls the buttons from our shirts,
And satters pins afar;
That squeaking door will always squeak,
For prithee, don't you see,
We leave the oiling to be done
By Mr. Nobody.

The finger marks upon the door
By none of us are made;
We never leave the blinds unclosed,
Or let the curtains fade.
The ink we never spill; the boots
That lying round you see
Are not our boots;--they all belong
To Mr. Nobody. ;)

Hi everyone! Just stopping in to see how the party is going so far. Everyone's contributions are so fun to read. I've brought one hundred cupcakes in shiny foil wrappers. Everyone's favorite kind of cake is among them. I'm taking a delicious slice of pizza and some root beer, and lots of gelato (wonderful, wonderful gelato!) for desert. Thank you Rachel. I've brought all my many many dollies for baby Hasia and everyone else to enjoy, and my favorite blanket from childhood to wrap the dear little one in.

And since easter is coming I've brought three dozen hardboiled eggs and many different colors of egg dye to decorate with. I've also blown the egg out of some shells for anyone who wants to paint little scenes on egg shells and keep them forever. Every spring I decorate eggshells that way. I have a whole collection; some with flowers, some with landscapes, and some with copies of famous artworks (I painted a copy of Van Gogh's "Starry Night" on an egg last year and I also have a Monet bridge egg, and a "Pollock" egg:)). Maybe painting mini masterpieces on eggs can count as something "interesting" about me, so we're not totally off the thread's topic.

Here is one of my favorite childhood poems from my favorite childhood book, The Tall Book of Make-Believe. The book belonged to my mother as a child, and it really is tall.

Have you ever heard of the Sugar-Plum Tree?
'Tis a marvel of great renown!
It blooms on the shore of the Lollipop Sea
In the garden of Shut-Eye town;
The fruit that it bears is so wondrously sweet,
(As those who have tasted it say),
That good children have only to eat
Of that fruit to be happy next day.

When you've got to the tree, you would have a hard time
To capture the fruit which I sing;
The tree is so tall that no person can climb
To the boughs where the sugar-plums swing;
But up in that tree sits a chocolate cat,
And a gingerbread dog prowls below,
And this is the way you contrive to get at
Those sugar-plums tempting you so:
sugar plum tree

You say but the word to that gingerbread dog,
And he barks with such terrible zest
That the chocolate cat is at once all agog,
As her swelling proportions attest.
And the chocolate cat goes cavorting around
From this leafy limb unto that,
And the sugar-plums tumble, of course to the ground
Hurrah for that chocolate cat!

There are marshmallows, gumdrops and peppermint canes,
With stripings of scarlet and gold,
And you carry away of that treasure that rains
As much as your apron can hold!
So come, little child, cuddle closer to me
In your dainty white nightcap and gown,
And I'll rock you away to that Sugar-Plum Tree
In the garden of Shut-Eye Town.

Me too, how wonderful , they remind me of the exquisite collection of eggs made of gold and precious jewels for the Russian royal family before the fall of the Romanovs. One egg was so exquisite, when you opened it up there was a tiny replica of the royal train and it actuallymoved on a tiny track.
And the poems remined me of the first time I saw the game Candyland. I was so overcome with the pictures and the thought that one could really go there and partake of such things that I never concentrated on the actual game and consquently never won.

Well we are nearly at the close of this party. But that does not mean that anyone cannot come to our house at an time. We do not live like royalty, you know by now tht I give most away of what I have and cannot bear to have something if it means someone else must be short of something.
However there is gentleness and love here, magic and faerie because despite what'realists' think, that one should live in the 'real'world I always think that nothing is more fantastic or faerie in the most dreadful way than the state of this world and the collective fashioning it into a thing trodden upon, worn out , filled with the blood and tears of innocents. So in my world there is always hope, always kindness, always forgiveness and sharing and a refuge from that'real' world.
and anyone who wishes to 'do no harm' to another is always welcome to the sanctuary of this humble home.
thank you from the depths of my heart to those who dropped and in shared. Ishall treasure is and every word and if my wishes and prayers could come true I would wish and pray that every one on this forum could be loved and be able to truly love, would have enough and a little left over to share with their fellows and good health in mind and body.
I love and cherish each and every one of you , of course in different ways, but genuine none the less.

Hey kilted can ye do a heeland dance? I can, the dance of the swords, real swords too not fake ones.

My school forced me to learn what they called "social" dancing which involved some highland dancing, and some traditional things like how to waltz, the 2 step etc. Then at every school dance we were forced to do this for the first two hours, and only if we all cooperated would they put on contemporary music at the end. For this reason me and my friends used to sneak off during the first two hours and find a place where we would drink, then return for the final period.

Virgil, What about you? Were you naughty when you were young?
I guess so. Perhaps not deliberately. Once, me and some other kid were throwing a ball back and forth on a sidewalk with storefronts and I hit a neon sign with my throw and broke a light. And we ran away before we got caught. In sixth grade (around 11 years old) I got into a fight at school and got into big trouble with the Dean. It wasn't even my fault and there wasn't any punches landed. It was around 1972 or so when there were a lot of race riots in my country. It was between me and this black kid, named Nathaniel. I was one of the smallest white kids in the class and he was the smallest black kid in the class and his friends egged him on that he couldn't beat anyone up. So to show off to his friends he instigated something with me by slapping me in the back of the head while I was sitting in class. I got fed up and pushed him back and he pushed me and we tangled and swung a bit and then the teachers came and put us in the dean's office. Becuase of the race sensitivity of the times we both got into big trouble. But it really had nothing to do with white/black animosity. It was just boys getting out of control.

I've brought all my many many dollies for baby Hasia and everyone else to enjoy, and my favorite blanket from childhood to wrap the dear little one in.

And since easter is coming I've brought three dozen hardboiled eggs and many different colors of egg dye to decorate with.
Dollies and paints eggs. Hmmmm. Is this the English Professor that's been teaching us poetic metrics and form? Quite a different side to you Petrarch. OK, while you're here at Rachel's we'll teach you how to whistle.

BTW, that was a lovely poem.

Something interesting about me (or rather sad if you prefer) is that although I've lived in Montana my whole life, I've never visited Yellowstone National Park. But someday...
Oh goodness. It's a wonderful place, and Grand Teton National Park nearby is probably even prettier.

oops, did I miss the party?
i didn't bring any poems or stuff that i like when i was small...
but there's a story my dad tells me everytime I visit him:
when I was 2 and a half years old, my little baby bro was born. so dad and me visited mum and my bro at the hospital. when I saw my brother for the first time, i didn't say a word and fell silent for an hour. as we were leaving the hospital I sad to my dad "Daddy, I think the baby is a pig, not a human." Dad asked where I had got that idea and I explained "He smells like a pig, he's pink like a pig and he squeaks like a pig. Therefore he must be a pig." My dad took me to a restaurant and tried to convince me that my brother was human. after half an hour he ran out of arguments and i finally said "OK, he's not a pig. But a pig-man." :D
my poor little bro :) i love him dearly and i haven't called him any names since then... but my dad likes telling this story because he thinks i was rather intelligent at the time...
oh yeah. there's another one.. when I was 2 my dad and me were home alone and he was cooking dinner. I came to the kitchen and said "Look dad, garlick floats!" I had nicked a bit of garlick and thrown it into my pee pot (into which I had peed before :) ). Dad was not amused and said "If you do this again I'll smack you one." I answered: "Then I will laugh in your face.". After a while I came to the kitchen again and said: "Look dad, onions float!" and he smacked me one and I laughed at him. :D
well, this was the end of my career as a natural scientist but that's fine with me :)

 Well we were all children once (I bet even Unnamable had a teddy bear as a lad ;) ), and I had many beloved dolls as a little girl that needed to come out and be played with at Rachel's party. Now they'll have to go back on the shelf in my room in California and wait patiently until I have a little one of my own someday and they can resume their active and imaginative lives. :)

As I was thinking about it I realized that it may be partly due to those dolls that I'm talking about metrics and form now. I read Romeo and Juliet (my first Shakespeare) when I was about nine or ten and I put on performances of that play, and then other Shakespeare plays, with all my dolls. I think that reading over those lines in play must have been one factor in the gradual dawning of an appreciation for the way language was being used in poetry. Since I had mostly girl dolls, they had to take the male roles and put on little false paper beards and mustaches. Little did I realise that I was reversing the rules of the Elizabethan stage, where women weren't allowed to act and boys took on women's roles. I guess I was a feminist with a reverse whistling technique even then. ;)

I don't know if this is in fact interesting. It certainly has been er well embarrasing for me. For some odd reason people react wierdly to the way I laugh. I have totally disrupted movies when I started laughing. People couldn't stop laughing at my laughing and it wrecked the serious parts of the movies. And I got removed to another part of the room at college because my laugh made some of the people so hysterical in their own response that our teacher was furious. I didn't mean to, I just got nervous because I kept making an error in a program on the computer. oh well....

sleepywitch, there are still many options for you to practice the martial arts..if you are looking for a more relaxing art i would recommend tai chi or something of that sort. and also it is not neccessary to pratice from an early age. another misconception is the color of your belt proves how good you are.. i am only a green belt and have defeated blackbelts..the color of the belt does not matter it is the dedication and love of the art that does. i started no more than a year and a half ago and winning grand nationals is quite a good feeling. its really fun too!:) hmm something else interesting about me...i can listen to a classical song and learn the guitar to it in anywhere from ten minutes to 3 hours of practicing it

I saw the first LOTR movie, Fellowship of the Ring in the theater 22 times...and I didn't even really like it. I liked it the best out of the 3, certainly, but I would usually sit and complain and moan during the entire thing, getting particularly animated during the Arwen parts. :p And the same person went with me to the vast majority of those showings...now that is a good friend. I saw Two Towers only 4 times in the theaters which is still a lot when you consider I hated it, it was easily my least favorite and then Return of the King was somewhere in the middle, both in viewings (10) and in affection...and the same friend went with me to most of those as well, she really was a glutton for punishment.

I can walk a lot (or atleast I think so), I enjoy walking and if the weather is pleasant there is nothing like it :D

But that is a torture for others :p

I recently made my friend walk for about two hours, I dont know how many kms we covered but she sure couldnt walk for the next couple of days and when we met again after a 3-4 weeks, she still had problem walking. :)

My parents decided to homeschool me and my siblings for religious reasons: they didn't like the garbage (ex. evolution) that was being taught in the public school system. I have heard that homeschoolers have the potential to be smarter (I am not sure where I heard this, so don't quote me on it), and I learned stuff that people in the public school system would begin to learn in a year or two. Domer121, what is Great Courses? I have never heard of that curriculum...

I am actually a lost and found case. This is something that has been happening to me since I was a little child.

One day while playing in the veranda, I saw the gate open and simply went out and took the road (I dont even remember this happening to me, but my parents and grandparents told me about it). When my grandparents didn't see me playing, they searched for me, and I was nowhere to be found. They searched frantically and still I was missing. My parents were called back from their office, and they lodged a police report.

Then, there I was coming back with two guys (the same age as me, some 3-4 yo), and I was passing by our home. Everyone was standing outside, looking worried......but when they saw me.....my parents were relieved that I was alive. So I was lost and then found. Later, when I was asked where did I go, I would tell them that I went after that baloon seller

And this has continued till date. Whenever I am walking with a group I just drift away (engaged in my own thoughts) and am lost.

Last night, I dreamt I was drowning. Yeah, I had run aground in a small sailboat, and I was out of the boat underneath, trying to get her off the sandbar -- why one would be swimming under his boat to dislodge it from the bottom, I can imagine, but as I was saying I was dreaming this -- it made sense at the time. The water was murky, riled up with mire, I couldn't seem to find the aft, the end of the boat that was still floating. It was dark everywhere, I became lodged between the hull and a muddy, rocky bottom -- I couldn't get free. I began gasping in muddy rocks. I awoke in a fright, in the dark, my heart pounding. Everything was all right, I was just quadriplegic in my own bed -- safe.

I am seriously afraid of dreaming.
The things I dream have this weird tendency to come true, months or even years after I have dreamt them and forgot about them - then I experience frightening déja vus when they happen.
A couple of times it had also happened that the people I dreamt whom I did not know entered my life afterwards in some way, and that I came to a place which was supposed to be unknown to me, but which I recognise from my dreams.

I have inherited this, and some other unusual features, from the maternal side of my family, which is filled with unusual, weird or scary individuals - crazy artists who committed suicide, writers in trance who felt somebody else was using their bodies to write, people haunted by their visions and troubled by the weirdest of ideas, people reported to have had some kind of ESP, people who seriously delved into mysticism and alike, people who suffered hallucinations and formed their own realities or, at best, people who were "only" a bit lucid.
My entire family is crazy, to sum it up.

I have Intermittent Strabismus in my right eye. That is a fun way of saying that my right eye doesn't always point forward.

When the eye turn occurs all of the time, it is called constant strabismus. When the eye turn occurs only some of the time, it is called intermittent strabismus or alternating strabismus. With intermittent strabismus, the eye turn might be observed only occasionally, such as during stressful situations or when the person is ill.

What this all boils down to is I get double vision alot, my right eye crosses when I am extremely tired or upset and I have weird problems with depth perception. You know those 3D glasses that are used to watch 3D movies? I can't use them correctly. When I wear them normally I don't see anything remotely "3D". If I hold the glasses about 8 inches from my face, that seems to trick my brain into seeing through the lenses properly and then produces the 3D effect.

Too bad that I look stupid doing that, not to mention my arm gets tired...I just don't bother with 3D movies anymore unless I can rent one...which doesn't happen too often.

I have only one nipple.

This may be too personal, but how do you loose a nipple? Did you loose the whole breast or just the nipple? I was in an accident once and thought my nipple was caught in the gears of a power drill. I was very worried since I was still nursing one child and pregnant with the next. I really needed that nipple! But all was OK and my nipple wasn’t caught. I had been impaled by the drill and it was hard to determine what the sensation actually was.

As one individual who has suffered a nipple injury to another; let me say "OUCH! I sympathize with you on that drill accident".

Without going into details that would be inappropriate for this site, I'll just tell you that mine was semi-accidentally bitten off (and swallowed). It was just the nipple and a bite sized chunk of the flesh underneath.

too bad.. do you know the film Jeffrey? there's this guy who wants to get his nipples pierced and his boyfriend says something like "what for, so we have two extra hooks for guests' towels?" (don't remember the exact wording..)
so if you get a piercing, there will be only one guest towel :)

Jeffrey is one of my favorite films. Many of the themes of that film are played out in my day-to-day life. (for example: my partner is has AIDS and I do not... this caused me much stress in the beginning.... just like in the movie)

Well... That was interesting... Is the one who swallow your nipple puked?

Yes, he did regurgitate it ....... eventually.

oh my. I've never heard of such a thing. That is awful. I just don't know what to say. That must have hurt, even after the pain subsided. And I thought crazy things happened to me.

The initial injury wasn't as bad as I would have expected. What REALLY hurt was the infection that set in afterward. THAT nearly killed me. Was on I.V. antibiotics for months afterward.

Crazy things may happen to you motherhubbard; but I'll bet you a buck that MORE crazy things have happened to me. I'm a crazy magnet.

Well, I've hijacked ANOTHER thread.

He was VERY sick before I met him.... doctors told him to make funeral arrangements....but he responded well to medications and is now the model of health. His viral load is undetectable and his C4 count is very high.

It's not a difficulty for me.... He's the one that has to swallow a ton of pills every day.

I do love him very much. He's the best thing that ever happened to me. He fill my days with love and laughter, he's the reason I get out of bed every morning, and the reason I can't wait to get home every night.

It must be horrible to have to take all those pills.

It doesn't seem to bother him...in fact he often has a double-handful that he pops in his mouth and downs in one swallow!! I can't even imagine that... on the rare occasions that I have to take pills it's one pill, a sip of water, another pill, another sip of water and so on.

(REALLY not horrible when you consider the alternative)

That *&$@%^# dog is still the bane of my existence. They took all of the contaminated pet food off of the shelves before I could buy some and force-feed it to the little rodent. Just spent about $2000 having 6 of her teeth removed. Now because of the missing teeth she has a problem where one of her saliva ducts has no place to drain....so it backs up and bulges out of her head. Going to have to drop another chunk of change getting THAT removed.

(Are you sorry you asked? I can ALWAYS rant on and on and on about how much I despise that dog..... you've been warned)

I know it isn't the same thing really, but my mother died from cancer and watching her go through the procedures, and the surgery and the radiation...it was hard. Of course it was a hundred times harder for her than it was for me.

Knowing someone you love is ill and there isn't a lot you can do to change it, is very difficult. My best wishes to you and your partner.

I thought this might be fun and informative. It may have been done, but I did a search and couldn’t find anything so…

List something interesting about yourself.

My feet grew ½ a shoe size with each pregnancy. I went from a seven to a nine.

When I was 14, the doctors thought that my right leg would have to be amputated just above the knee. I had been kept off my leg for 2 weeks taking 4 shots 4 times a day so when they told me that the leg would have to come off the next day, I decided I would at least walk to the bathroom on my poor leg before it was gone. When I stood up, the infectious spots burst open and drained. My temp was down by morning and the infection was so much better that they decided to wait a few days and see what happened. I recovered with both legs intact....but still can't dance.

I was ambidextrous as a child, and for many years none side was prevailing for me - I could, and normally did, do anything with both of my hands. I could write, draw, play with things, do anything you wished with both of my hands equally well. It is funny when I remember that ;)

It lasted for an entire decade - it was only in fourth grade of elementary school when my right hand slowly began to prevail over my left one. Within a year, year and a half, from ambidextrous I turned right-handed, but for a next couple of years I still could, for fun, use my left hand if I wanted, though I normally used my right one.

However, with time, that ability began to elude me more and more. Nowadays I am 17, have been right-handed for about 7 years and it really is challenging for me to use my left hand now, just as it would be for any other right-handed person. I can still write, but in that childish handwriting I had before, not in this wannabe-calligraphic which I usually use, and it feel largely "innatural" today to do so. So now I am just your usual right-handed person, but it is funny to remember that I was ambidextrous for so long time.

There's really not anything about me I find interesting. But motherhubbard.....
When she was 9 years old she started taking ballet lessons. In less than a year she was dancing lead roles and teaching. She just knew from the beginning how to dance. Even parents of other lead dancers who had taken lessons for years would comment that motherhubbard was the better dancer and performer and should have been selected for the role. It made this granny pretty proud.

Oh, I envy motherhubbard, because I can't dance at all.

But I like being on stage, too, singing and acting. At the moment I'm a member of a group of five women. We write our own texts and songs and perform about 25 times a year. We started eleven years ago with a very small audience, but meanwhile we need bigger halls (600 - 700). People seem to think we're funny, because most shows are sold out within a few hours. Our themes are men and women, their relationship and their vices and virtues. (Well, mostly vices, as virtues tend to be less funny. :D )

Pity it will be over in December. :bawling:

Various reasons. One of us will be 70 in December (but looks 20 years younger) and she says she'll stop then. Another one finds it too stressful beside her job.
But the most important reason is that we would have to put up a new show, and when we did that last our friendship almost broke apart because we quarreled like mad. I think the wounds have just healed superficially ..
