OK, so here's a question. A couple of years ago, I read the first part of "In Search Of Lost Time" (I think that's the English title) by Marcel Proust. I liked it OK, it didn't exactly knock me out but bits and pieces of it were really good. I liked the general theme of memories and when he really gets lost (!) in describing something, he's a really great writer. I rated it 3 out of 5 at the time and promised myself I'd eventually pick up part 2. Never got around to it so far.
However, my local bookstore is now holding a sale with all 7 volumes at a ridiculously low price. So the question is: has anyone ever read all ~3000 pages of it, and is it worth it? It's not the money as such, but the fact that I hate owning books that I know I'm not going to read... So any opinions on Proust would be very welcome.
