Nothing could have prepared me for Mr. Lockwood's encounter with Catherine, and I'm curious why Bronte included such a scene in this story. It grabs your attention, but for some reason I feel as though this book would have been a great success even without it. Perhaps it was meant to spark a certain curiosity in the minds of the readers about the fact that love is in fact supernatural in make and eternal in stride. What are your opinions? And why did Heathcliff ultimately die? Hmmmm....

I really liked that scene where Lockwood sees Catherine's ghost, it interested me and pulled me into the story and it made me want to learn more about Catherine and Heathcliff and put the pieces together.

In my opinion It relates to several things in the book while reinforcing the Gothic features around the book.

Firstly - How Heathcliff wants Cathy to haunt him after her death
-Heathcliffs descent to Madness
- Ghost of Heathcliff and Cathy on the Moors
And finally adds power to Lockoods last Line

''And Wondered how anyone could ever imagine unquiet slumbers for the sleepers in that quiet earth''

There are several characters that could be pitied in this book, but the character that I believe shoud be pitied the most is Isabella Linton. As a young child Isabella was rich and spoiled. As she got older she began to look towards marriage and soon met the untreated and adopted Heathcliff. Against her families' will she began to fall in love with him. Even after Catherine and Nelly tried talking Isabella out of being with him, she eloped. Isabella was then rejected from her only brother Edgar and that's when the real trouble began. Heathcliff started to abuse her so much that she became ill. On top of that she then finds out she is pregnant and married to a man who never truly loved her. Heathcliff used her for his revenge on Edgar and had never really liked or loved her. Isabella then moves away to London because she is pregnant and fed up with Heathcliff. Soon after running away Isabella gives birth to a boy whom she names Linton. Twelve years later she dies and Linton is left to live with her drunk and abusive husband Heathcliff. Isabella does not even get to see her son grow up and she has no idea how his life will be after her death. Now you can see why Isabella should be pitied the most. She lived a hard, abusive, and lonely life. She will never see her only son grow up or protect him from the terrible happenings at Wuthering Heights.

The character i pity the most is Hareton Earnshaw. He grows up with no mother and a father that always drinks. His father doesn't know how to raise a child. He doesn't really have any parents. He relies on their servant Nelly to care for him. When he grows up, Heathcliff teaches him to hate his father and later on makes him be a servant at the Heights.
