This is a great, simple little poem. You are very talented to condense what can be a very long process into such few lines of description. You should submit this to a parenting or midwifery publication.

That's a great idea genoveva, I never considered that! I sent this out recently to The St. Anne's Reviw and another journal for first-time poets called "Coast" that occasionally publishes little pieces like this one. Any suggestions on names of parenting/midwifery publications would be appreciated. Thanks again!

Mothering
Hip Mama
Midwifery Today
are the three that come to mind. You could probably Google them...

Jon,
I agree, having given birth multiple times, that sounds so incredibly awesome and resonates deep within my being. In just a few short words you take in all of antiquity until this very hour and with such power.
loved it Jon. hugs

Hey, thanks Rach! --- Genoveva inspired me to send it to some mothering journals, and I sent it to a journal I subscribe to called Poetry. Hey, we have to try, right? Getting a poem published is like the lottery - for newbies like me, anyway! All for under a couple bucks for postage!

Hey rach, you are too kind --- and what better source than to come from a woman who has experienced the anguish (and joy?!) multiple times, what I tried to pack into a few lines? You are my authority on this one... ;)
