I've been analyzing poems at school for the past few weeks. I have never really writtem any poems before - I'm more into writing prose. However, i finally decided to take a stab at it.
Frivolity
The cat and the mouse, oh natural foes!
Like Caine and Able as the story goes.
In the room did sit and stare at each other
Silent,
Motionless;
One did not take care for the other,
And the other did not take care for one
Wind whipping wildly so it was said
By the little boy watching curiously from his bed.
While cat sat on chair and mouse on desk
And still they both remained completely at rest
The telephone rings
A voice calls hello
Still they sit completely at rest
One did not notice the other
The other did not notice one
The mouse did not squeak
The cat did not speak
(in a language of cats nor humans)
The boy continued to stare
The wind continued to blow!
The cat lifted a paw but quickly put it down!
The mouse remained perfectly still.
Time passed as it often does
The boy continued to watch simply because
He wanted to see if the cat would react
To the mouse who simply sat
Silent!
Motionless!
The cat twitched its ear (most maliciously too)!
The mouse showed no fear (it did not have to)!
For the cat, pressing its bottom in the air
Pounced!
Leaped right of the chair!
And out the door.
Nothing more.
The boy noticed as boys can
That the cat and the mouse wanted nothing to do with each other
Silent
Motionless
The mouse continued to sit
While the cat ran downstairs to take a – euphemism
The boy got out of bed
Approached the mouse
Pushed it a little and then a little more
The white arrow moved across the computer screen
Nothing more.
